Goodman was a 617 Squadron pilot who saw action in the attack on the Tirpitz. He also piloted Lancasters that dropped the earthquak bomb - the RAF's largest bomb (22,000 Lbs). He did not fly on the Dambusters raid. Not quite Excalibur. Tallboy was a 12,000lb bomb of a similar design. Both Tallboy and Earthquake were deep penetration bombs, designed to smash bunkers in places like the Heavy water, nuclear factories and those building V2/V3 missiles.... Called the tall boy.... No other aircraft could carry such a weight.... Design by Barnes Wallis..
