He literally spent two years with us proving he’s a good manager, we crumbled when he left. But is he a good man manager, motivator? I have my doubts.
Some are good coaches but less good managers.
Lots of players have spoken highly of him. Of course being "nice" isn't always a good thing. But is he a good man manager, motivator? I have my doubts.

Just about players working hard through the week. Tough test against Wolves played on a fabulous pitch. (He's obsessed with good quality pitches). Building towards where they need to be. Progress doesn't happen over night. Seems to concentrating on "out of possession" work. Development Squad boys are learning alot from training with the 1st team. A decision will be made soon about how best to progress them.Insider - can you give any details of what he talked about?
Hopefully the first team forwards are learning a lot from training with Dobbie. IN possession.Just about players working hard through the week. Tough test against Wolves played on a fabulous pitch. It would be a one way conversationJust listenned to Critch's Barrow pre-match interview.
What a world, and a century in terms of football coaching, he is away from the previous 2 dinosaurs.
I'd love to sit down with him for a couple of hours and just discuss football.
If you look at some of my old posts you will see I've commented on how poor we were/are out of possession and IMO that can define a team.Hopefully the first team forwards are learning a lot from training with Dobbie. IN possession.
I thought Critch implied the dev squad was training with the first team squad so it would all be one. I guess he just meant a handful of dev squad players. If you look at some of my old posts you will see I've commented on how poor we were/are out of possession and IMO that can define a team.
Don't fully understand your comment about Dobbie. As far as I know he's not involved with training the 1st team squad and for the purpose of pre-season those "development squad" players that have been training with Critch have have not featured in Dobbie's teams, unless you know different.
For me the catalyst to our good form was Calderwood. When he left we weren’t the same performing teamHe was more effective when he had a strong man beside him and we had started to crumble before he left.

The problem remains the lack of space/pitches at Squires Gate.I thought Critch implied the dev squad was training with the first team squad so it would all be one. I guess he just meant a handful of dev squad players.
We were excellent out of possession when Critch was last here. I just think we were weak in possession in the final third. Everything went wide and from there we didnt get quality service into the strikers.
Dobbie took a couple of days to do better, I felt. He could help. We pay his wages. Make it happen!!!
If we get 40 of them, I'll settle for that!I think il be betting on 1 nil wins this season
I tend to agree with that but I do think his period away from Bloomfield Rd will have improved his management skills strangely enough.Critchley appears to me to be a very good coach. I have my reservations about being a good manager as well.
I know, but I do wonder about that No 2 ( no lol intended).I tend to agree with that but I do think his period away from Bloomfield Rd will have improved his management skills strangely enough.
I get the impression he's happy with both his No 2s.I know, but I do wonder about that No 2 ( no lol intended).
I understand why your saying that from his interviews but not how that improvement came about. We just won’t know until the season starts for real.I tend to agree with that but I do think his period away from Bloomfield Rd will have improved his management skills strangely enough.
Professor little shit then.Yeah he did wonders at villa and QPR I’m not sure they’ll describe him as a professor, I’d describe him as a little shit personally.
Is he happy with them because they agree all the time?I get the impression he's happy with both his No 2s.
First time round he needed some experience alongside him. He sounds a lot more confident in himself now. Tbh he doesn't have to do much to impress us after last season.
Youve set off a lot of negative comments !Just listenned to Critch's Barrow pre-match interview.

It's also impossible to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Some people cant help themselves. They see a positive, appreciative post about our coach and immediately feel obliged to look for a negative, contrary viewpoint. I don't know about NC as a person, but I do know that he has coaching ability, and gets the best out of the players at his disposal.
He took several sows ears from league two, moulded them into a winning league one side, then went on to help them become successful championship assets. It's also impossible to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
Several of our players lost their good form after he left, and they are clearly very happy he’s back. I remember Madine was gutted. I have zero concerns in this regard. But is he a good man manager, motivator? I have my doubts.

I would hope and assume that Dobbie is consulted and made full use of?I thought Critch implied the dev squad was training with the first team squad so it would all be one. I guess he just meant a handful of dev squad players.

He would be, L1 is absolutely his levelIn our promotion season, imo our upturn in form was as much to do with the players we had available as having an experienced assistant. Our form improved massively as soon as Dougall started playing. His first game that season was in our 10th game, away to Burton. Say what you like about him, but he was superb that year.
Top end of league one, which is good seeing as that's where we want to be next season. He would be, L1 is absolutely his level
I'd imagine Appleton was mute, McCarthy was a barking dog and Dobbie will have got the most out of them and for me is most akin to Critchley. As Wizz said different class and I have no doubts about how good a manager and motivator he is.But is he a good man manager, motivator? I have my doubts.

Critchley has his back room team and Dobbie isn't part of itI thought Critch implied the dev squad was training with the first team squad so it would all be one. I guess he just meant a handful of dev squad players.

Nope. Just some collaboration between the existing staff and using the abilities of them all across the first team and dev squads.Critchley has his back room team and Dobbie isn't part of it
Why do people keep trying to force other coaches on him
What next Thommo again
