Anyone else watching?

Getting very exciting as well as being funny.

Sunak and Starmer going at it like Cat and Dog.

Listening on 5 Live. Sunak sounds like a very polished performer and with a majority in the house he gets a decent response from his audience.
Not sure how long he will get away with framing all his answers around Corbyn, Furlough payments and the vaccine roll out without it sounding totally hollow though?
I thought Starmer cut a bit more ice this week perhaps because of the timing of the resignation?

I thought Starmer had him on the ropes today
You wouldn't have seen it but there was a point when Sunak looked stunned just staring at his folder when he should have been getting up to answer.
There really is no good answer to Starmer's questions. Why did he appoint a known bully to the cabinet who has previously been sacked twice? Why was he sad when he resigned? Why did he appoint a security risk as home secretary?
These are all very good questions.

My thoughts exactly ref Corbyn.
Starmer asked Sunak twice why he hasn’t introduced a windfall tax on Shell and twice Sunak went round the houses about them creating jobs.
Good old Ian Blackford where would the house be without him. 🤣

Time to call it a day when Keith is calling you boring.

Good question from Benton.

Levelling up now goes as far south as Felixstowe 👍🏻

It’s a ridiculous pantomime and has little bearing on the actual running of the country.
It’s all about who can score a cheap point which will command the headlines for a few hours, or make for a good Twitter post or tiktok video.
I’ve stopped watching it cos it’s two opposing sides of intelligent capable people descending into unprofessional childish noisy rabble like behaviour. Oh - not to forget the segway over to the bitter Scottish upstart who is a legend in his own mind. But a laughing stock and embarrassment to his country.

Sunak is very accomplished and will tie Starmer in knots.

Agreed, not his best day, but Starmer on the whole is ineffective and how in Gods name did he get to be head of CPS?
Starmer walked all over him today. Sunak is smooth, but overrated. Two terrible political judgements so far and a shed load of bad news to come. Starmer is a lot more confident at the moment And his questions are more direct.

Agreed, but due to BorisGate, TrussGate, SuellaGate, Ukraine and Energy crisis, he's not been under any pressure whatsoever and just stood back without offering any tangible, achievable policies.

When he does.....it will be interesting.

Sovereign Wealth Fund
Green energy company owned by government
Renationalised railways
Windfall tax on oil companies

All these already in the public domain.

Easy to be confident when there’s obvious holes to fill, when there’s not, he’s totally ineffective, no policies, only negative

Shows you how ineffective he really is, when the only one Ive actually heard him mention is the 'Windfall tax'. Im not saying he hasn't championed them, just I haven't heard him say virtually anything, and I watch a lot of Politics.

Ive heard more from Motormouth Rayner and Lisa Nandy than him.

Alternatively it shows that you post stuff that isn't remotely true on AVFTT to try to make a point.

Depends what you watch I suppose. Party leaders never seem to go on the more popular programmes like Andrew Marr, Question Time, Andrew Neil etc probably for understandable reasons, so many people get to know their front bench better.
I think this is often a mistake for leaders of the opposition especially when they are behind in the polls as there are not many big opportunities for them to be heard.
Starmer rightly or wrongly maybe feels he just needs to avoid any major mistakes now.

So you're not actually bothered that he not capable of answering the questions? Or the fact that he appointed a known 'bully' and a security risk to the government? There's none so blind as those that cannot see!🙄

You don't want to hear the policies, it's obvious.

Deary me, it shows that I posted something with the available facts I actually knew.

I also inferred that he might have said them, but I hadn't heard them mentioned by him, but his gobby deputy or a member of the Shadow Cabinet might have.

Which bit 'isn't remotely true' ?

My point was, he has stood back for most of the duration of these 'gates', which anybody of an intellectual persuasion would probably concede was the case.

A very fair retort, compared to some of the agenda driven drivel from some of the posters on here.

They don't as a matter of course.

And just to show I'm not just a nasty old socialist yes, it was a good question from Benton. That said, Sunak and his front bench seemed a little patronising when the reply came.

To be honest there aren’t a lot of policies yet are there?
He’s basically ‘parked the bus’ since he became leader. A year ago you would have thought he might have to go before the next election now it looks like he was playing a blinder.
Still a bit of work to do yet IMO.

They don't as a matter of course.

Yes but I am sure they will have a choice. Corbyn might have helped himself if he had done a bit more of this instead of some of his preaching to the converted, especially as most people had never even heard of him when he became leader.

Starmer probably needs to avoid any banana skins now.

That's as maybe, but anyone who votes Tory after the last few years needs treatment. They've tried all kinds of policies and they've made things a lot worse than they needed to be.

That is an amazing statement from the utmost agenda driven poster on here. You have your prejudices and work everything around that whilst claiming "I am not a tory"
'utmost agenda driven poster on here'

Wow, deluded comment at best considering the many posters on this site.

I might not be a Socialist, but I'm certainly not a Tory. Not a claim.....fact. But don't let that cloud your agenda.

'Prejudices', again, wow.

Another poster who really needs to understand the intellectual difference between prejudice and opinion.

Still waiting for a single Brexit benefit. All gone quiet on that front.
The post wasn't about Brexit, it was about your agenda driven opinions.
But of course you have turned it round to Brexit. Which in a way proves
my point.
I agree though that the main benefits of Brexit are yet to be seen.
But likewise I've yet to see any evidence that the march to a federal Europe with
monetary and economic integration is a good idea either.
But I am convinced that when the shitstorm from the pandemic hangover,
the war in Ukraine and the cost of living crisis calms down, we'll be able to see
things much clearer when we're in calmer waters.

".....the intellectual difference between prejudice and opinion."

There is no intellectual difference between prejudice and opinion. Prejudice is, in fact, a type of opinion - one that is preconceived and not based on reason or experience.
