Patience is a virtue

From what I gather being prepared for both League 1 or the Championship, with regard to recruitment, will obviously provide certain challenges. I think it may be a week or two before we see any significant movement on incomings and theres more likely to be outgoings before then.

So I think we all need to be patient and not panic if we haven't signed half a dozen before next weekend.

From back to front - we need 2 keepers (one if Moore signs), 2 right backs, 2 left backs (unless Hubby and/or Garbutt sign), 2 CHs, 3 strikers (2 if Madine stays), left sided winger, 2 additional central mid players (who can score goals).

Thats 14 players if nobody signs, or 10 if the players all sign their respective contracts. I'm sure we'll fully utilise the loan market so I think 5 or 6 permanent signings should suffice.

Not sure about some of the numbers here. Do we need 4 strikers? Two more centre mids on top of Stewart, Dougall, Ward, Virtue, Robson, Antwi and Garrity?

We need to re-sign/replace Simms, Madine, Turton, Gabriel, Ballard, Kaikai, Embleton and Moore. Squad size wasn't an issue last year, we just seemed to have more than our fair share of injuries. I don't think we need greater numbers, just quality replacements for those who have left.

I think it would be sensible to get 60% of that now and 40% of it between January and next summer. Hard to bring in so many people to probably not get game time.

Robson, Antwi and Garrity (hes on his way) didnt get much game time in league 1. Theres not really going to be huge opportunity for them next season so I expect all 3 to go either permanently or on loan. Virtue has got a bad injury which will take some time to get over, I noticed he was on crutches at Wembley. Very short on quality in Midfield.

All successful teams utilise 4 strikers. We need 4 strikers, especially in the Championship.

Assuming all those offered new contracts re-sign. Definitely, need 2 more strikers (one like Yates and like SImms) , on the basis of both variety but also one is likly to be injured. Need a winger to replce KK and a creative attacking, passing midfirlder to help unlock defences. Need another CB if Ballard doesn't come back. Definitely need 2 RBs and a 3rd goalkeeper. Minimum 8. I think we will see more

Creative mid fielder, on field captain/gerneral and 2 RBs are a must
+ season long loan deal for Simms and Ballard
Then Mr Tinkerman will work his magic on another 5 he feels are needed

Great OP and a plea for patience which has been worth waiting for.

Can't remember the last time we had one of this quality

Will Brad Holmes not be used as the 4th striker?

I'm doing what I did at the start of last season... trusting Critch and co to make the right signings at the right time.

I thought Matty was a virtue.
I think, as already witnessed last season, that everything is already in hand, long lists, shortlists drawn up and, no doubt, plenty of surprises, one or two gambles contained therein. Exciting times ahead
