Owen Moffat

He's never had a chance for us yet. Clearly has talent. Getting a break in professional football is often down to luck. Always boils down to a manager fancying you as a player.

Pleased for the lad but given that Dunfermline are 13 points away from Dundee U at the top and that Morton are at the bottom, what does that tell you about the level he's playing at? National League perhaps?

Very pleased for him. He never really impressed when I saw him playing for the Development Squad but hopefully this move can be the making of him. He's another in the Dembele size bracket.

I went to the Morton v Dunf game last night. Owen Moffat was pretty decent for the first 20 mins, took both his goals well but then had very little involvement. Second half he was largely anonymous and was substituted 15 mins from the end. Apparently he got MOTM on BBC Scotland but this must have been because he scored two as he didn't do much else to catch the eye.
Whether he has what it takes to get into our first team squad remains to be seen. I didn't see enough last night to suggest he is ready yet but at the same time he is still a very young player learning his trade.
Kirk Broadfoot was in the Morton starting XI and had a very solid game!

National League is brilliant, we're getting beat by the team 3rd in that league today 😳

My mate is a big Celtic fan and watches literally everything about them and he noticed Moffatt when he was playing in the youth side and said he looked a real prospect and at 21 is amazed he's not found his feet with us.

Not forgetting that Dunfermline have reached 3 European Quarter-finals and Dundee Utd reached the semi-final of the European Cup.

Dunfermline v Raith Rovers, Scottish Cup match on now, BBC Scotland or BBC iPlayer, channel 187 for those with Sky. Interesting to see Owen Moffat in competitive action

Some players never realise their early potential and some players come good late in their career. Vardy being a perfect example of the latter. It's a funny old game.

What is the point of a debut if there is never any pathway to being a first team regular? Name me the last player to do it.
How many players are there who have left our Academy in the last 5 years or so and have gone on to play elsewhere at an equivalent or higher level to our first team?

The fact is that most of our Academy players aren't getting a chance in our first team because they aren't good enough.

If they were good enough then Critchley would play them.

Let's hope that Rob Apter builds on his recent good form at Tranmere and returns to us either in January or the summer ready to push into our first team. Although not an Academy player, that approach from the club seems to have worked well last season with Olly Casey.
