Think after KD leaves there, are 9 out of contract ( 3 with options)

When can the out of contract players talk to interested parties and is there a date we have to take the option by.

They can talk to non-English/Welsh clubs from 6 months prior to contract ending but English/Welsh only 1 month prior to end of contract. Think option has to be taken at least 1 month before contract end.

Shayne has injury problems and has slowly played less games for us each year, but think he's still deserving of one.

Marvin and Hubby speak for themselves.

Dale, Virtue, Kenny, and Carey all need to move along.

Think players out of contract at end of season are ;

Richard O'Donnell
Marvin Ekpiteta
James Husband
Callum Connolly
Shayne Lavery
Matty Virtue
Kenny Dougall
Owen Dale (1 year option)
Sonny Carey (think there is a 1 year option)
Mackenzie Chapman (1 year option)

If you want to develop the squad then a fair few of those need to be moved on and upgraded upon.

Issue as always is we would want to be negotiating now, but would those players be good enough in the Championship now we know what is expected at that level?

Kenny obviously going but I think we need to keep everyone else apart from Connelly. Think we should activate Carey’s option and sell him though

The club is moving exceedingly slowly in getting some of them signed up!
Think a lot of those players good or adequate in L1, but would not be good enough in Championship or strong promotion push.
Suspect even those who move on will probably stay L1

Because they have not signed up!
It’s not as easy as you make it out to be - there are a lot of factors in play. You also assume that the out of contract players want to stay , which they may not. We also may not want to keep them beyond the summer as we may feel we can get better upgrades. Also it’s been a mad busy period of matches, negotiations may be ongoing and conclude when the run of matches is not so hectic.

I think out of those, only Ekpiteta and Lavery are capable of playing in the championship. Sonny Carey and Matty Virtue are only 23, and should improve. Hubby is 30 already, and could help us get there, but him, Callum Connolly and Owen Dale - L1 is their level. Richard O'Donnell is a good No.2 to Grimmy just now.

Eki is not reliable
Hubby not playing well
Virtue struggling with game time as is Dale, if they move might get a small fee
Connolly if he stays lower contract as utility player
Carey take up option

Because they have not signed up!
How do you know they haven't been working tirelessly on these contracts and have offers on the table for each player?
You don't, so why make a negative comment about something you know absolutely nothing about.
Instead of thinking the worst try to think what could be happening in a positive way. Maybe the club have identified better players in the positions of some of those out of contract and have, rather than acting slowly, acted quickly and made decisions on all of them, some good for the club some bad for the player.
The fact is, nobody knows.

One thing I do know as a fact is that the club will be doing what's right for the club not the individual.
We now have a structure, unlike the previous ownership, where things are done in a professional manner. Decisions will be made in the best interests of the club now rather than some one who'd rather be investing in anything but football.

It is not a negative comment, it's a statement of fact. You say I know absolutely nothing about it, so are we to presume you know everything about it? I think not!

You state as fact they are moving slowly but you've no idea what they are doing have you?
None whatsoever. You like to think you do but the reality is you know as much as any other supporter......

I know that CJ and Casey have signed extensions and nobody else has. That is fact, which even you cannot argue with. If you are so much in the know, please tell us all which other players will eventually sign contracts and why, if they have been made an offer they cannot refuse, they have not already signed?

I don't claim to be in the know.

The point I was making really, is that people like to moan and make out things are doom and gloom by making statements which they cannot substantiate like the one you made.
Instead of saying 'the club is moving slowly' why not say ' the club has done really well to get CJ and Casey on new contracts and I'm hoping they can get a few more done soon'.

Not sure about Lavery at Championship level. A hard-working combative sub to bring on maybe.
He's a grafter and a nuisance, but technically adrift at Champ level IMHO.

Totally disagree about Dale. I think that he is a player who could shine if he is given more time in his correct position. He looks to attack the opposition when possible and gets himself into good positions to make goal attempts. He just needs to improve his finishing in my opinion.

There isn't a cat in hells chance that Marvin will stay

Because the club is moving slowly. I not going to say otherwise just to sound optimistic, when it looks like we are losing our best midfielder!

I know it's not real life but in my footy manager save with Blackpool big marv refused to sign a new contract to explore his options at the end of his contract. So I sold him for £1.1m to Derby in January rather than lose him for nothing in summer. He's currently on 8k a week there. Lavery wanted 10k a week which I couldn't afford but managed to offer some big appearance fees and goal bonuses (3k each per app/goal on top of a 6.5k a week contract - he's bagged 25 goals so deserves it). Oli Casey and Owen Dale had 1 year options which I trigged and since getting promoted to the Championship Connolly now wants 14k a week 😂😂😂. Crazy some of the money we are paying out to fringe players, we have one of the highest wage costs in the league, assuming it's pretty accurate.

How do you know the club haven't made him an offer months ago?
How do you know the club wants him to stay?
How do you know that he's decided he's moving even if the club offer him what he's going to earn elsewhere?
You don't.
As I said before, you have absolutely no idea what is going on with KD or any other out of contract player for that matter. None of us do.
You just like to put a negative spin on it to look clever, to sound like you know what's happening.

Answer this:- what would you do with KD?
