Our final run in

We now play Doncaster on 4th May, making it our 2nd to last fixture of the season - could be a tasty one if we're both in the running for the play-offs!

These last run of games could be absolutely massive. Accrington then Sunderland twice in 10 days, then Doncaster 2nd to last game.

Hopefully Rochdale/Shrewsbury have nowt to play for at that point, and Northampton/Bristol Rovers are either safe or already relegated - don't want to be coming up against anyone fighting to survive when the other fixtures may be play-off dog fights. Or who knows, our own season could be over by then and none of this will matter!

Have just got a feeling injuries and the amount of games played could kill us by then - bet the players are still knackered after Tuesday .. I know I am!! The problem with playing catch up is you need to be consistently putting points on the board and I fear that will catch us up eventually.

The run in is going to be a punishing schedule for all teams but my view is, with the depth of our squad, we will be better placed than most, if not all, to handle it.
Admittedly we have the added slog with the games in hand, but that is offset to a large extent by having 12 of the remaining 19 games at home and that has to be a big advantage on all the others.
We also now finish with two home games preceeded by Northampton away.

This is where COVID is really hampering us, imagine if we were going into those last two home games with the potential of a play-off spot? Bloomfield Road would be absolutely rocking for both - just gave me goosebumps thinking about it!

We are going to have some pretty worn out players at the end of the season.
L:et's just hope they all keep fit and free from injury.

Had a sneaky feeling we might make top 6 by season end but Tuesday was a kick in the nuts. Need to go on another winning streak. Next four games (Wimbledon/MK Dons/Codheads/Burton) are all eminently winnable.

Only 5 of the 18 games left are against sides in the current top 6
  1. peterborough
  2. lincoln
  3. sunderland x 2
  4. donny
Yes...and 3 of those 5 are at home including the Peterborough game.
The two April fixtures against Sunderland could be tasty...at least we have a good record playing the top sides.

Sorry to be the pessimist but I think our season will end with defeat at Sunderland and the rest will be dead rubbers.

We've just had a spell of games with 9 players missing. Sure we can cope.

Figured it could be good to revisit this now we're heading into the final 10. Funny how its changed, Accrington looked like a play-off rival at the time now they're nowhere to be seen.

Of course there are no easy games, but we haven't had much luck with the way these fixtures have landed. Pretty much every team is either fighting for promotion or against relegation. That could change as time goes on but its only looking like Accrington/Shrewsbury who have nothing to play for as they're basically safe/too far away from the play-offs (you imagine Doncaster may be out the race by the time we play them, and Bristol Rovers may already be relegated).

We have games in hand on everyone around us, so I figured out when we play those games in hand on each team (Charlton's game's in hand is confusing as their Lincoln fixture has been postponed, so I may be incorrect on that one):

The Doncaster fixture, which is the 2nd to last game of the season could prove absolutely pivotal. I mean the 2nd to last game of the season is normally important but the fact it is the game in hand we have on most teams around us is probably going to make it a MUST WIN. This season is easily going right down to the wire with how close the point tallies are, I'm getting nervous just thinking about it!

The Accrington and Sunderland fixtures are also huge in putting some distance on teams around us, but in the mean time we just need to be picking up points the way we've been doing game by game then if we get results in these fixtures it'll be huge.

I've certainly missed all this business end of season figuring out, first time post-boycott we've had the opportunity to!

🙄 and I thought I was bad trying to get Blackpool relegated on the League Calculator

A 14-1 win against Gillingham should make the picture a lot clearer by 5 pm tomorrow

We will run out of steam.

We will run out of steam.
Do you mean in terms of form or fitness?

Form, could happen.

Fitness, I think we're in a better position than most. Ultimately everyone has a similar fixture congestion and with some of our injured players slowly returning we may be more equipped than most, as recent weeks have proven we can field most players within our squad and still churn our results. I doubt that is the case for the rest!

Lincoln are the team for me that will dictate our destiny

They don't play today so a win could see us go forth (fifth if Portsmouth also win). Then if we beat Lincoln on Saturday we would be four clear of them which is a nice 2 game buffer.

Lose today and lose to Lincoln and we could find ourselves scrapping for one play off spot, win and we have the pick of three

They're in terrible form, this extended break due to COVID surely won't help them as they'll come back slightly off the pace - too long of a rest at this point in the season, I imagine if they're actually sticking to COVID rules they won't be training either.

Perfect time to play them really, I think their season will be over if we beat them. No way they'll recover.
