Our Defence/Yesterday’s Goals

I'd say increasing the lead would have been a decent tactic - though I did put in the match thread that he's had all season to coach this hopeless 3/5 at the back system and still none of them looked like they knew what they were supposed to be doing. Exemplified by Hubby stepping out for offside giving their player a free header.
You would have though after 45 games our leader would have twigged that when we sit back it all goes wrong. Unless of course they turned the ipads off after 70 minutes the week before.

Defence has been a bit leaky all season. Even our clean sheets are more because of heroics from our keeper rather than a tight defence. It's usually of our own making too tbf

Win 1 0 your in the playoffs, there is no excuse for 2 experienced defenders ball watching, not communicating, and leaving the one attacker totally free. No manager can legislate for such shocking defending. Don’t concede after 46 minutes and it’s totally different second half. That has nothing to do with systems just lack of ability.

Not just yesterday and not just Blackpool I can't believe professional footballers " ball watch" and have no idea where their "man" is. Zonal marking needs binning and put at least one man on a post at corners. Rant over

Shocking defending. No excuses.

Joseph was one on one with the keeper when the score was 1 0. Score that and we win.

Fine margins.
"fine margins" are just an excuse for what has been a poor season on so many levels. Unless you think this season has been a success?

It hasn't been the disaster some are saying. We had a massive job to stop the rot from the Appleton/McCarthy tenure.

As I've said, 21 teams will not see the season as a success come May 18th.

I thought second and third both came from fouls that should have been given after which they countered in a knife through butter stylee. Hubby at fault for 1 and 3, Penni for nr 2. But our best defender (IMO) can’t get in the side so…….

no we didn't have a massive job to stop the rot at all. Critchley has worked with most of these players before and just like McCarthy didn't know how to to get the best out of them. McCarthy came in not knowing the players but that can't be said about Critchley! Critchley didn't play this system last time he was here so what's changed?

And i suggest you read an earlier post of mine with regards to your nonsense regarding 21 teams. i'd suggest that any team who came up and hasn't gone down would say their season as a success. i'd suggest that the likes of shrewsbuty, bristol R, Cambridge and a good few others will see their season as a success because they haven't gone down. However, i'd hope we as a club and as fans have a bit more ambition than that. Maybe you do as you seem to like defending what you've seen this season!

We didn't have a massive job? Confidence was completely shot, as would any relegated side.

As always you're talking nonsense and putting words in my mouth. I've said the defending yesterday was shocking and our forwards aren't good enough. We've done well to be 8th.

so you accept failure then.

Do you follow Spurs because everything is so black and white?

It's neither success or failure. Somewhere in between.
in this case it is failure. We have been poor on far too many occasions this season. Do you want me to list them all? We are in a very poor L1 where we have dropped so many points to teams down at the bottom of the league. Care to explain how that isn't failure? And yesterday was certainly a failure. We were gift wrapped a place in the play offs and put in an abject performance!

Dint know where you get the 2 from. Their goal is solely down to Husband, no one else.

Marvs position has hardly changed, just his posture.
Whereas Husband.....

Yes they cocked up big time, but I will maintain we have never looked fully organised with this 3/5 at the back system. Academic for now in any case.

Don't disagree about yesterday. We blew it.

I can only comment on Bristol Rovers as I live in the area - their fans certainly don’t consider the season as a success!

Precisely, put away our chances and we would have been much more comfortable. A problem we have had all season. Just not enough quality on the pitch in attack, midfield and defence
