NC has (welcome) problems. For me the only two definite starters are Maxwell and Yates. Competition for places everywhere. Two weeks ago, I would not have expected some players who were here last season be pushing for a start but Thornlily, Antwi, Ward, Nottingham and especially Shaw have really stepped up this pre-season.

Definite starters for me are currently Maxwell, Thorniley, Antwi, Anderson, Yates, Shaw and Ward.

jury out on the other half of the team

At this point unless we sign another right back, Turton will be one of the first names on the team sheet.
Howe, for all his enthusiasm, doesn't look ready for the first team just yet, especially if Marv is also in the back 4.
I can see a midfield of Robson, Antwi & Ward working well together, they have a mix of everything between them which should compliment the team.
Upfront I think it will be Yates, Anderson & at this point Hamilton, although I think we may see a loan player brought in who can play in the front 3.
Kaikai has been a big disappointment.

Personally, I would say; Maxwell, Turton, Ekpiteta, Thorniley, Shaw, Antwi, Virtue, Robson, Kaikai, Yates, Hamilton, bench will be Sims, Anderson, Sarkic, Husband, Howe, Ward, Madine

Agree that Hamilton should be used against tiring legs. Not sure he’s a starter just yet cos his end product needs a bit of work (in my opinion)

Swap Hamilton for Anderson for me

Anderson not put a foot wrong preseason and scored a couple too

That's not including 2 signings minimum I think we will be getting in on loan

Last season I just couldn't get my love back after so long away, suddenly the buzz is here again

Dont think shaw and antwi will start together either.

Being away from home, I think Critchley will want to make sure he doesn’t lose the game and so might well adopt either a 4-5-1 or a 5-4-1 with Yates on his own up top.

Don’t think he’ll play that negatively - also Yates as a lone striker with no support around him is suicide, and Neil will know that

The main advantage to having so much pace in our team is that, if needed, we can sit back and pick teams off on the break.

Do we have a lot of pace, other than Hamilton? Or does he just make the rest look a bit pedestrian?!
