As a "reward" for winning all four schools cups in 1961-62, the Baines Grammar teams were taken to Sheffield for the match. I was 14. Poor game, with an experimental forward line of Hellawell, Crowe and Charnley that didn't work. Ray did manage to win the penalty that drew the match.Against France I believe there cant be many who can say that ,he was our centre forward when I first started watching The Pool.
