Ok sorry but even I am now getting worried

I know we have had a lot of people having a go at the club for this and that, but with a week to go even I am now really worried as the league looks like getting stronger but we are going backwards. Simms not coming to us is not surprising but going for a promoted side, lack of goals, lack of defensive options all not good. Ok Notts Forest turned it around last year but we are heading for that sort of miracle required. New arrivals ok with potential (not these exciting signings we we lead to believe we’re about to happen) but lord we need that potential to flourish 😪 best I can see is just avoid relegation, sorry

Can't compare playing premier league and europa league finalists to championship teams.

Fiorini did not have a pre-season before joining us on loan, so will be rusty.

Our strikers were feeding off scraps last season. For me, it's not a priority signing if we're creating more chances.
I would rather spend the money on a LW or a combative CM.

Now that we have an actual LB with pace, it will resolve most of our problems as Appleton wants to play with a high line.

We'll be more than capable of this with a backline of:
Thompson - Big Marv - Big Rhys - Gabriel

We'll be fine.

I think it will be like that for the next couple of seasons, I'd prefer to do it comfortably but an ok season will be about us avoiding the bottom 3.
Although if we get a half decent forward to play wide in a 4 3 3, an all round centre forward who does basic centre forward stuff like assisting and maybe scoring in 1 in 3 games, another decent right back and keep everybody else we might be fairly comfortable.

It’s not about how good you might be playing your best XI, but how good you might be playing your worst XI.

For a Championship club to have only made 1 permanent new signing is really poor and really quite alarming.

Given we were told the budget was bigger than last seasons it's all very stagnant and there is little feel good factor for the forthcoming season.

Really worry about Reading on Saturday.

A worrying trend that we seem to be agreeing terms with other clubs but players are turning us down, choosing to go elsewhere. For those that we get to hear about I’m sure there are others who just aren’t interested in us.

Nottingham Forest. Notts County

I strongly suspect we have a board member that kind of said: "I used to be an agent. Just you watch me negotiate. I'll have them wrapped around my finger and bring home some bargains".

Could be worse, PKE has not spent a single penny so far on transfers.

Just signed a wonderful talent from man united this afternoon

Sorry to piss on your chips

Don’t need to spend with fantastic loan deals

We’re Oyscum free so to be worried about relegation is nothing. If it happens it happens. Blame Critchley, we have 25 average players all owned by us. If any play tremendously all season we will be fine.

For all we know, the work on the training ground has paid dividends and we’ll coast to comfortable victory on Saturday. We’ll all be pleasantly surprised and wondering why Critch couldn’t get them to play like this.

Happy Days 😎

I'd take 4th from Bottom now tbh

Looking at the team we're putting out tonight, maybe one of them would be starting on Saturday. Big Marv.

It's not dissimilar to a number of line ups starting last season.

No reason to be so downbeat.

Sorry for this thread, have loved the club for 40 years, but really worry this time we are not making the expected progress. Hope the young players prove me wrong, but cannot see progress in our incomings. Now hate to say it but if we had Simms and Ballard this would have been progress. Not looking back but they have a proven record, where are our exciting signings do not 😂 if we know it’s going to be a struggle this season then say it, still love the club just disappointed 😞

Wouldn't have thought so, success with two teams and part of the England set up. More than Quitch
Wasn’t knocking Appleton, just thinking (more valid for loans), that Critchley seemed to have a lot of ‘fans’ amongst the footballing world for player development.
I’m no expert, just wanted to hear what others thought, your point valid.

Did he? It sounds good?

But his Liverpool connections and thus supposed pal act with Gerrard managed to get us Ben Woodburn on loan.

He was good for a ex-Crewe player though.

Keogh will be 100% in before Rhys.

The team that will start against Reading will be much stronger than the team that started last season against Bristol, the lack of signings is frustrating but im not overly worried yet, aslong as we dont sell any of our better players.

Once the transfer window closes and weve done all our business and we have a settled team and formation and everybody knows their job, i think we will be pretty decent
