O' Donnell

Nothing wrong with competition for places
And as much as I like Grimmy, his recent performances haven't been up to his standards imo.

Apart from an undeserved booking for time wasting, I agree RO had a good game
Didn't have a great deal to do, but when he made his saves, he pushed the ball away from the danger area

So we should use hypothetical loyalty to an extremely talented young goalkeeper as a stick to beat the manager with?

Or were you annoyed that grimmy had the Cod Botherers all riled up on Wednesday night?
Maybe it’s because he’s let 7 goals in in the last 2 games or hadn’t you noticed that?

Or you could say that factually he's let 9 goals in 3 games. 2 against Cheltenham
4 against Peterborough and 3 against the cod's. Either way 7 in two or 9 in 3 is still poor form

This is it, and he could have done better with 6 them.

We all love Grimmy and want him to do well, the point of this discussion is purely about his form the last 3 games.

We played a strong team last night, so has he been dropped already?

My point was that you were already using it as an excuse to push your agenda against the manager - and it hasn’t even happened yet.
We all know team selection is a huge problem we’ve had hundreds of posts/comments about it it’s why we’re putting in a shift for only 45 minutes but not the full 90.

I don’t expect O’Donnell to play next Saturday but my own personal opinion is he should be given a chance as conceding 9 goals in just 3 games (5 against 2 bottom 4 teams as they were back then) isn’t great especially when 3-4 goals in my opinion were goals that should have been saved.

Let’s not forget both keepers last season had decent runs in the first team and I think it’s good for that to happen and to have competition unfortunately it’s not looking like that this season yet shipping goals is becoming a big problem.

O’Donnell is a pretty decent keeper and should be given a go in the first team is all I’m saying here.

Perhaps the defence is a little to blame as well? Grimshaw is an excellent shot stopper, as demonstrated by his penalty save (conveniently overlooked on this thread), and is generally reliable. All keepers make mistakes and as soon as O'Donnell makes one there'll be a thread like this with the names changed around.

Grimmy is a good keeper, but needs to know he is not guaranteed the keepers jersey, he always needs to fight to keep it

So a goalie has a good game against a non league club and we drop our regular goalie to facilitate him. My god some of you see 90 minutes and want to make changes . The manager, the coaches ,they know nothing , but suddenly some fans do . Makes you laugh at some of the ideas on this website.
I think it's the last 270 minutes Grimshaw has played more than O'Donnells 90 at Bromley.
I'd probably stick with Grimshaw for the next game and hope that the competent display from O'Donnell gives him.a reminder that he needs to be at his best to keep the shirt.

O‘Donneöll was tidy enough last night but could have easily conceded 4 in the last 15 mins !

But we’ll done him — he was safe

I can't see him not doing his best in every game ,but would O'Donnell have let in goals that Grimmy saved, for example the penalty against Peterborough. That save at least gave us hope till the 90 minute mark.

I’d keep him in the team that second one that Grimshaw let in against fleetwood still baffles me I really don’t understand how he didn’t just hold on to the first shot it was a pea roller he’s proving to be a very poor keeper

Woulda shoulda coulda

Last 15 minutes was down to adequate defending, decent keeping and shite finishing

Yep, looks solid and dependable.

I know it’s not a major factor in the onfield footballing equation but I do like his positive pro-BFC comments on Twitter …. he ends his tweets with … UTMP 🧡🧡

I do like that 💪

Bit harsh really as there's 10.players in front of him.
Football can be a harsh game sometimes.

How many on here seriously thought Marvin would ever get dropped from the first team? Hero to zero in such a short time.

Thankfully he seems like he’s got his mojo back again.

I’d just like O’Donnell to be given a chance in the league that’s all I’m saying.

And I’m not saying Grimmy is a bad keeper not for one minute.

Impossible to say, I'd like to think he might have done better with the Peterborough free kick and Fleetwoods 3rd but we'll never know.

I think it would be another change to the team (for the tinkerman) that isn't required at the moment.

Hundreds of posts on here prove absolutely nothing. Zilch. Nada.

There's hundreds of badly adjusted numskulls on here.

I can remember when Harry Thompson first came into the Blackpool team and difference in the back 4 was immediate, that's what a good keeper does, I ain't saying that Grimshaw isn't a good one, bur of late he s not

It wasn't the defence's fault when he fumbled a very soft attempt at Fleetwood that led to a tap in.

All keepers make mistakes as I said, and the defence a) let the Cods get a shot in, and b) didn't get to the, admittedly soft, rebound.

Grimmy on Saturday - we then have the EFL Trophy game on Tuesday for O'Donnell and if either really prove themselves then give them the gloves for Shrewsbury.
