Nuttall and Lubala

Anyone any clue what’s going with these two now? I know Nuttall got a bad injury last season but other then that not heard anything and lubala what’s happened to him? Seems if we could get rid would free up some wages

A source close to the club told me they were both hired as brew boys for the rest of the squad. Except for keogh he only drinks warm diesel. They also occasionally get asked to heat the milk for the youth team but that's not technically in their contract.

Probably the most useful they’ve been since signing

Been wondering what's going on with these 2 & Howe for months now...Wasn't Nuttall training with the squad again leading up to the play off final?? Is anyone on here following Matt Scrafton on Twitter?? Maybe get him to ask the club what's happening with the players?

Cancel their contracts and release some money for new players.

Nuttal may be a tough one as it may boil down to a mental health issue ( even though nobody knows ) but Lubalas could be a different story. I’m sure SS has looked into it, nobody likes to pay for a service they dont get.

Teddy Howe is the puzzling one for me. He was at a Championship club when we signed him and given the right back situation you would have thought he would be given a chance. Seems odd to play a CH like Casey at right back whose lack of positional sense led to the Sunderland winner.

What's that fish in your avatar? Some kind of cichlid?
Well MGT as nobody on here as far as I know has made tropical fish references & I’m a bit worse for wear , you’ve mentioned cichlids, do you keep fish or was it just a casual comment?weirdly enough as I read your post I was watching my damasoni chasing round after it’s tankmates ( which are not compatible according to aquarist in general)but that’s bollocks as a bit of fin nipping is the worst that happens
Anyway ignore this if you don’t keep fish as I’m posting pointlessly because I’m in the mood to pointlessly post

At least 90% of posting is pointless. Actually, just make that 100%, cos everything is ultimately pointless. Even Phil's most robust threads.

Yes, Teddy Howe is the real mystery. Lubala we know at least that there's a club matter, Nuttall we have a vague sense of something not being right all along, and possible skulduggery involving Larry and Dunny, but with Howe he just appears to have been abducted, with not a word being said. Where is he?

There may may have been a lot of performance/ appearance related add ons included in the transfers so we’re reluctant to play them.

It was very strange that Howe didn’t even get in the team during preseason and this Tuesday when we’re clearly desperate.

Hopefully there’s going to be a lot of comings and going’s or I can see this season being very tough.

I keep both tropical and marine, great little hobby, bloody expensive though

I guess fans of all clubs could provide a list of shocking signings that drained their club's resources with nothing back in return. Souness actually put that bloke on the pitch for Southampton in a first team game who was pretending to be a footballer, and paid him wages. Quite a good analogy! 🤣

So a top level manager who won the European cup as a player liked the look of an imposter in training, and brought him on in a competitive game, and only then realised. Possibly my favourite football moment 🤠 Maybe Bez is related to that lad.

And Souness still gets paid work as a tv pundit!

Howe and Nuttall were signed in too much of a hurry, by Larry. Bez and Sarkic are more worrying, as Critch and the new fangled recruitment team signed them. Sarkic was cheap and young and was maybe an understandable low cost punt. Bez is the big balls up really, expensive, and wrong on various levels. Very poor recruitment, and I suspect we are determined never to waste money like that again, hence our carefulness in the market. If we don't find people who don't tick the essential boxes, we won't sign others just to fill holes.

To be fair, both Sarkic and Bez had a pedigree. When you look at their past, there's enough their for us all to have thought they seemed like decent signings.

I think Sarkic was a bit unlucky with getting knocks at the wrong time and then our style changing and now we've been promoted above his level.

It was really strange to play Sarkic in most (all?) of our pre-season games and then not even put him on the bench for any games so far.

We presumably have a wage budget that these 4 players are eating into despite not contributing anything on the pitch for 12 months. I just hope that it doesn't stop us signing our top targets in this window.

Used to Graham and love the hobby. As a youngster, trips to Brian Simmons, the Tivoli Pet Shop and that one at Layton which was the best of all. Loved my Oscars 👍

I agree about Sarkic probably, but we are just fans and we haven't done any due dili type stuff. If you're actually responsible for signing someone like Bez who costs a lot of money, cos it's your job, I think you need to do a better job. I realise not every signing will come off, you win some you lose some, but that seems like a bit if a balls up to me. An experience to learn from. The counter argument is that putting a squad together from scratch in one window like we did last summer is a difficult and rushed job, so there were bound to be some fails really. Now we have a base squad we can be more careful and add players carefully, carrying out a full process to asses suitability. Hopefully...!

Shop window, fitness, giving him a chance, and we maybe needed him to play 45 minutes cos we had players missing in preseason, when players were also only playing 45 minutes.

You can do that diligence and it fail though. We don't know what the issue is. I've worked at the same place for years. Our interviews are stupidly rigorous, 2 days long and loads of profiling and tasks with multiple references and multiple interviewers but still it goes wrong sometimes.

Yes it can go wrong. I just think that Bez isn't a good enough footballer, and that should have been realised, given the cost. With footballers, if you shell out a big fee and sign a long contract, the cost of mistakes is much higher than regular jobs, so you at least need to judge the ability level well. We largely have done with our signings, regardless of what some posters might say, but Bez seems like an aberration to me.

I should have noticed your avatar Abiks!
Just tropical for me I haven’t got the time or money for marine yet, it was hard enough keeping on top of maintaining discus,
It is a great hobby though
Ahh discus are meant to be right hard work so I haven’t bothered, i got mainly African shrimp and catfish, my misses looks after the marine one too much hard work for me

Lubala was tipped in the press by people like Tifo and the athletic to be a standout player to watch last season. No one really knows what’s gone on, but he was expected to be good. Sarkic looked good in preseason and seemed to have lost weight.
Howe seems to be suffering from Critch’s scorched earth policy of getting rid of any player who was at the club before him.

Except the captain Maxwell, Ward, Husband, Virtue, Madine.

Coulda shoulda woulda

Just a poor signing. No escaping it. Learn and move on.
It's obviously not worked out, but does that mean it was poor work from the recruitment team? Who has the best recruitment policy in world football? Show me them and I promise you you'll find signings that went wrong.

It's always highlighted at lower league clubs because there isn't the spare cash to replace them whereas at the top clubs those signings are obscured by the others. Everyone has a Bez from time to time.

Yeah of course, everyone has a Bez moment sometimes. 👍 I said so above...
"I guess fans of all clubs could provide a list of shocking signings that drained their club's resources with nothing back in return."

I'm just saying Bez is one of those, and I think we have tightened up cos SS doesn't want repeats if at all possible.

As most of us are at the very least making a contribution to these players wages , I believe the club should inform us as to why they are not at the very least making a contribution on the pitch .

Whilst everything at the club is Uber positive, open and one to be proud of, I do find the reluctance to talk about what is happening with these players strange. Would it be the worst thing if they just told us what is happening with them?

Every club has players earning money for nothing. Overall we have done well in the market with a large turnaround of players

Maybe they have personal and private problems.. im not saying they have, just a possibility.
