Now I’m not a dog owner but…

if you are, would you feed your dog under the table in a pub with food off your plate using your fork and spoon and then using the same utensils to feed yourself? I saw this in the Shovels yesterday and nearly gagged on my Yorkshire Pudding 🤮🤮

As a proud Dog owner I simply don’t agree with Dogs being allowed in Restaurants/cafes or other places you can eat.
I’am all for Dogs being allowed in non eating establishments like Pubs etc that don’t do food.
I have no issues with people with Dogs eating in a pub beer garden as often do it ourselves.

You can arrange a dogs birthday party in the Shovels!

The dirty uncouth barstewards!
The owner should be made to eat dog food out of a bowl under the table 🐶

I’ll have to take your word for that.
I’m incapable of licking my own balls or ass (if I do yoga more I might then have a chance 😂) whereas dogs….
Far more bacteria and viruses in a humam mouth than a dogs, a bite from a human that punctures the skin can be one of the worse of any species.

It's through the eye of a needle job if our dog has any of our food, so no we wouldn't do that.
The other thing that aggravates me is other people fishing dog treats out of their pocket and giving them without asking first, as usually we have the mess afterwards to sort out.

I can't agree, eating outside is ok if the weather is warm, restaurants get my 5 stars for letting us take the pooch in & quite often have an area segregated or the bar area, otherwise it's go hungry or eat that pre packed frozen shite they knock out at places like the Shovels & many other pubs Ugggh!

First time I met my future wife's parents their dog was licking his balls.
To lighten the mood I pointed at the dog and said, "I wish I could do that"
Future father in law said "if you give him a biscuit he might let you!"
Boom boom😁

I'll get my coat
I thought you were going to say that your future father in law thought his daughter should do yours 👍

If an elderly relative didn’t wash or wipe their own arse and left a smell and hair everywhere they went ….you'd put them in a rest home…🤣

There are a few bars over here where we take our dog to (she gets fed chicken most days)off the tapas we get for free with each drink)but she is fed by fingers which are then wiped with antiseptic wipes, that,s okay is it ?.

Dog gets his food (raw diet) and we have ours. Certainly wouldn't use our cutlery.

Never goes upstairs. He's a dog.

I've had two labradors and they would both eat until they pass out. And if you didn't know them, you'd think they were starved daily.
Some paper published a few years ago found that some labradors (around a quarter of them if I remember correctly) have a gene that means they’re basically always hungry. They can’t feel full.

I think its a missing gene, mine certainly has it missing if true.

If it’s something they shouldn’t eat they will generally woof the whole lot, as we found when as a puppy he managed to get at the cats biscuits & ate what would have lasted the cat a fortnight in one go, I came home from work & wondered why he didn’t want his dog food, it was certainly a windy 🌬 few days. TBH we stick mainly to a raw diet with brown rice & some kibble, with the odd tit bit & he’s odour free, plus you could pick the 💩 up with a cocktail stick if you so wished. We’ve concluded dogs will eat until they are bursting given the chance.

That’s gross 🤮.

Some dog owners let them lick their faces too though which I always think is weird…
Licking (by the dog) is generally accepted as affection ours does it although we wouldn’t allow him to lick our mouth as it can cause all sorts of nasty things, but some people do & it makes me cringe. The licked area gets a thorough wash afterwards I’ll add. Brother in law lets him lick his mouth & we’ve told him off many times, but he doesn’t listen or is incapable of taking it in (stroke victim) I worry more what the dog will catch from him 😬

Not as weird as the owner licking the dog's face
One of the other student nurses on my intake attempted mouth to mouth on a dog that collapsed in front of her which made me laugh like hell at the time when I heard about it…I feel very guilty now though admitting that and sadly she wasn’t successful… 😔

Yes, I meant the mouth in particular really…Sorry to hear about your brother-in-law suffering a stroke, it can really change someone’s persona and perception, can’t it ..😔. Following his stroke, I remember my brother asking me how to spell the word frog, which made me sad because he’d always had a tremendous word power, prior to it…

One reason I don't use the Fox in Shipley as often as I used to is that dogs are allowed in, fair enough, but it is a micro pub and on Sunday night, there were four in , all large dogs and one not very well behaved.

I hasten to add I've had three dogs and am currently looking after my daughter's two whilst she is in the office.

No I wouldn't but, it wasn't as though they were asking you to do it was it? I can't see nothing wrong with taking a well behaved dog into a pub, although I would rather have dogs than kids in pubs. Although I do agree that some people cant control their dogs or their kids. It isn't the dogs fault or possibly the kids fault just stupid people having them and as we know there are a lot of those out there.
