We are not going to win every game. We are not going to perform like we did against Cov every game. Tonight was always going to be a slog against a wounded animal, it had 0-0 written all over it until the type of goal you’d expect to win a game like that.. it happens.

Just saw a comment regarding our ‘reliance on a 19 year old’ - absolutely rubbish. Patino played against Hull and that was worse than tonight.

On to Saturday.

The worrying thing is how many of these shambolic games games we have had now. That's WBA, Hull and Rotherham just off the top of my head. I know there's more than just those three too.

We haven't just been bad in those three games. We have been abject in them for 95 minutes.

Much worse tonight than Hull. We scored and had shots against Hull nothing tonight not 1 shot FFS

Needed to freshen the team up tonight, some tired legs!
Some good loan lads on the bench not starting any games

Hate how some people when speaking go from extreme negativity to extreme positivity based on one result and it seems like a huge amount of our fanbase do this.

Christ, this board and twitter and you would have thought that was our 10th defeat in a row.

Amazes me how people are so quick to turn on Appleton.

It’s the championship. It’s the most unpredictable league in the world. We lost 1-0 tonight but have just had 2 incredible results. Which now everyone seems to forget and it’s back to Appleton out.

Get on with it, move on, Luton at home. A perfect chance to be better.

Totally agree, for every pne we’ll have a hull, for every Coventry we’ll have a wba, I’d have taken 2 points from the last 2 games, we have 3 points although we were awful tonight, it’s a blip that’s all

SS what you’ve got to understand is that the bedwetters and wetwipes on here were very frustrated after the outstanding performance against Coventry on Saturday so couldn't really spout their usual bollocks, hence some of the shite posted tonight!

There is no need to overreact, correct.

Wright isn’t good enough however. Theo, no good tonight. CJ back to his usual self barring a few little runs.

Husband MOTM for me.

It was a shocking performance but that's just where we are squad wise. We just don't have the players to make the changes and retain quality. Hopefully Charlie can shake his bug off and Keshi/Bridcutt are fit for the weekend. At least none of the players on a suspension tightrope got a booking.

Shock, we lost against a team that couldn’t buy a win with Bruce! New manager bounce - it was always going to be a tough game!

Shut up👍🏻

There’s plenty of over-reacting on the match thread 😂

We were very poor, I thought we set up for a point and to get one on the break. When we start with Wright we struggle, as we have no momentum and are stretched in midfield. Not slagging him, I just think it’s beyond him at present. Carey and Kenny were therefore less effective, as were our front 3. Our options are limited, but we’ll hopefully have plenty back for the 2nd half of the season.

I thought he’d start Poveda tonight, really for a bit of something different to get us moving forward.

Ultimately, we are 6 points off a playoff spot and it’s wide open. Need to get the ground rocking on Saturday - it can’t just be against Preston.

who has actually said Appleton out?

My response is what the fuck was that!!!!
I thought he was woeful. If he doesn’t learn to pass to a tangerine shirt soon I’ll lose the plot.
What! Corbeano was only on for a short time the rest of the the were biting the ball anywhere all the game.

The usual suspects will always overreact to a victory or a defeat.
But I understand the frustration. Two great performances against pne and Coventry, bookended by Hull and WBA. It’s like watching a different team being told to play a different way. Maybe that’s just what mid table teams are, but still frustrating.
And how pne are on the edge of the play off places is beyond me.

Totally agree, he beats his man but then dilly dallies and you just know nothing is going to come from him. Not that he was the problem tonight, CJs first touch was better than his shooting. I don't think I can recall a more bipolar team.

It was utter clueless dross, turgid shite from the 1st minute to the last, utterly pathetic, shambolic, disgraceful, ridiculously poor, woeful, crap, piss poor dog shit, looked like they hadn't even seen a football before, couldn't pass wind, zero quality on display, looked like we should be the ones bottom of the table.

Apart from that I really enjoyed it 👍

Actually I don`t think they were that good.

Some on here seem incapable of understanding this is simply a match thread and the comments for the most part are based purely on tonight`s performance as they should be on a match thread.

It was a pretty dour game on a dire night weatherise, playing against a 5 man midfield, which we always struggle with, Patino was ill so how many other players were under the weather? Coventry had several players out on Saturday, it is very possible we have picked up their bug.

We have 3 more games before the break, 5 or 6 points from those and we will be going into it with a healthy points total after 21 games. We can get players rested and fit and go again in the middle of December and we then have a chance to strengthen in the January window. In my opinion we need a really good defensive midfield engine like a fit Bridcutt or Stewart type player. I also wonder what we will do with some of the loan players. What is the point in having them if they aren't going to play then we may as well send them back and replace them with players who are going to or concentrate on getting permanent signings in. Thompson and Wright were our 2 signings, plus the lad from Shamrock who hasn't arrived yet. Neither have got going yet, Thommo looks like he is going to be a good player and is only young. Wright is also young but doesn't seem ready for first team action yet. I think we need to be looking for more experience in January and again in the summer along with some talented youngsters.

It's a funny league, so close and there are going to be good and bad results. We will be fine but it could be a it of a "rollercoaster!!"

WBA played us off the park tonight.

Other than them being a bit shit up front right now we could have taken a pasting.

Not the end of the world. We move on to the next game.

Appreciate the comments from the calm heads, as i tend to be more in that camp generally. But if you schlepped to fu**in’ Smethwick on a wet Tuesday night and braved the horrendous traffic beforehand (and after) only to have that dross served up, then i think you can be forgiven for being a little less than sanguine.

Fair comment. And credit to all that travelled. You deserved better.

Is that not like trying to find a unicorn 🤔

Two very poor teams last night but one was eventually so encouraged by the fact that the other team was even worse than them that they started to believe they actually were not quite as bad as the other and so had a unexpected chance of winning a game for once as their confidence was allowed to grow and in the end were able to do just enough to take that chance.

Unfortunately we were very much the other team last night and were truly dreadful!!!

For the fans of the other team (us) that was by any standards an extremely depressing watch.

I believe we will play a lot better on saturday. We are capable of far better football than that exhibited last night. Numerous long balls to nobody. It was indeed an extremely depressing watch.

Some of our so called fans need to grow a pair, some of the comments on the match night thread are just off the scale, to summarise:

Maxwell - Dog Shite
Connolly - Shite
Ekpiteta - Poor
Thorniley - OK
Husband - OK
Dougall - Shite
Carey - Shite
Wright - Shite
CJ - Shite
Jerry - Tired
Madine - Tired

Ok, we were poor last night, no mistake. But these are the same players (most of them) that were heroes against Preston and Coventry, and how many are carrying knocks due to our injury problems? Certainly Madine, Connolly and Thorniley.
We can't diguise the fact that we are inconsistant, the Championship is a very strange place this year with form changing all the time, only 8 points between Hull in 20th and Norwich in 5th.
I'm not sure why we have to have a complete overreaction every single time we lose, perhaps we should consider writing a letter to the club or players, or perhaps we could just ** support the club, you know, like supporters are supposed to!
Constructive critisism is fine, we are allowed to express our disappointment after a defeat, but saying one of our players isn't fit to play for Fleetwood is beyond the joke! 😉

It was a poor performance and that needs to be said. But to coin a phrase Blackpool are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get. This season we have shown we are capable of very good performances but equally so we are capable of very bad ones too. Last night from the kick off, it seemed it was gonna be a case of the latter.
