What struck me at Wigan was starting with Rhodes & Beesley (which I didn't have a problem with) was the half hearted press which Wigan easily played through & got on the front foot. Would we have therefore been better sitting back a bit & making them go long like we often end up doing? Rather than any tactical switch (which as we know never happens) it took an injury to Rhodes & the introduction of Lavery to add a bit of urgency.
We really do need to start better today & hopefully get their large support feeling jittery.
When you are in the top two, the pressure is massive to score and lift the tension. If a goal doesn’t come early, the anxiety levels get worse. Pool have to keep them out long enough for all that to happen.
