National One-Hit Wonder Day

Matthew Wilder - Break My Stride
Maxwell - Somebody’s watching me
Martika - Toy soldiers
Stephen ‘Tin Tin’ Duffy- kiss me

I’ve gone with some 80’s radio hits. There’s too many to mention!

Sorry I'm drifting off topic a little but some of these make me think great tracks the "progressive and radical", Radio 1 refused to play:

Most songs by - Sex Pistols
O, Superman - Laurie Anderson
Love Misile F1-11 - Sigue Sigue Sputnic
Pictures of Lilly - The Who
Creep - Radiohead
Fascist Groove Thang - Heaven 17
Glad to be Gay - Tom Robinson

Other than the great John Peel (RIP), an endorsement of classics IMO ;)

John Peel, is that the same john peel who used to get blown off by under age girls and get 15 yearolds pregnant. Suppose its hard to now he's dead.

bowie / sakomoto was the soundtrack to Merry Xmas Mr Lawrence. BOWIE plays the pow in the film . ryyuichi sakomoto played the japanese officer . as well a composing the soundtrack. really haunting . both departed . sakamoto quite recently.
I know Bowie in the film next thought Ryuichi did the soundtrack. Nit that it matters, he was brilliant though.
Plays a Japanese soldier again based on the soldier who didn't know the war had ended in the video of Field Work by Sakamoto/Thomas dolby as well.

Martika had at least 5 top 20 hits and a couple of those went top 10

Would that be Chrissy Maxwell by any chance ? 😂

Stephen Duffy also recorded ‘icing on the cake’ which I actually preferred to ‘kiss me’
