Back row Alcock , Wood , Bentley , King and Ainscow. Middle , Hatton , Harrison , Curtis , Hart , McEwan , Tong . Front , Moore , Suddick , Suddaby , Walsh and Ronson.I know I should hang my head in shame but there are 5 players on that photo who I don't know - inc. the reserve keeper. Can someone post the full team please?
There was a reserve keeper called Ward around that time if memory serves me correctly.
George Wood was a great keeper.
The good old days 16 players on a club photo Not like todays pampered squads of 40 plus
Thanks. Should have got Curtis and McEwan but King, Tong and Moore I don't remember.Back row Alcock , Wood , Bentley , King and Ainscow. Middle , Hatton , Harrison , Curtis , Hart , McEwan , Tong . Front , Moore , Suddick , Suddaby , Walsh and Ronson.
Bob Ward. Came in 1977. He played a bit, he's in nets on a game on YouTube v Luton in 1977.
He went on to be a Physio. Drank in The No 4. He went to Chelsea as Physio and whenever Chelsea were playing Up North in the late 80's he used to bring a couple of their players with him to the boozer.
The reserves played on a Saturday at the same time as the first team as well in those daysThe good old days 16 players on a club photo Not like todays pampered squads of 40 plus
Some reserve games were absolutely superb back thenThe reserves played on a Saturday at the same time as the first team as well in those days
Moore quite fast winger never fulfilled his potential . I remember him playing a blinder in a night game at home and thought he would be a rising star but no it never happened. His dad was a on the board for a while and used to give him a lift to training in his Roller. My only memory of Kevin Moore is him scoring a worldy at home against Southampton I think 1975 ish.A top bin curling rocket from about 25 yards.
Remember all the half time scores hung up on pegs along the south west stand. The reserves played on a Saturday at the same time as the first team as well in those days
I think I noticed that there was a Bob Ward’s physio ‘shop’ near the ground last time I was up.
Could that be the same bloke?
If only he scored a hat trick at Sleepdale like Ainscow .how much does Alan Ainscow look like Josh Bowler
Loved Stan McEwan so much so I was nicknamed Stan at school, don’t remember him missing a penalty apart from the one at Walsall away, I was sat behind that little wall they had at the time, was totally guttedThanks. Should have got Curtis and McEwan but King, Tong and Moore I don't remember.
