I'm sure going back a bit the answer to the question was Fulham but that could well have changed. I'm not actually sure of course but something sticks in my mind that the question has been asked before.I would take a wild guess at Rochdale for most played fixture.
Second part is easier to answer...that’s the Wendies, because they are simply massive !
My guess would be Burnley as well. It would have to be a Lancashire club surely!Burnley rings a bell with this question, certainly not Rochdale, we`ve not been in the lower leagues for as long as they have !!
Cheers. I'm glad Fulham is up there. Shows my minds not playing tricks.I'm not sure how definitive this is, but it suggests the answer is Burnley. Followed by Wolves, Leicester, Fulham, Bolton and Birmingham.
Looks like our Merseyside bogey team is New Brighton Tower, never heard of them or their towerI'm not sure how definitive this is, but it suggests the answer is Burnley. Followed by Wolves, Leicester, Fulham, Bolton and Birmingham.
Was it nicked overnight ?!!
We've played Barnsley (103 ) & Hull ( 102 ) more than Leicester ( 99 ) according to my list.I'm not sure how definitive this is, but it suggests the answer is Burnley. Followed by Wolves, Leicester, Fulham, Bolton and Birmingham.
We haven't played Rochdale that much because we were never at their level before 1980.I would take a wild guess at Rochdale for most played fixture.

Yes mate, the figures I quoted are league, fa cup and league cup. In Fulhams case 6 fa cup ties and 1 league cup tie, all the rest were league games. Surprised me also.We haven't played Rochdale that much because we were never at their level before 1980.
I would have thought someone like Wolves or Fulham in League games alone who's fortunes have roughly matched our own. Are we including cup games?
5 times. So we have NEVER beaten Shrewsbury Town??
Not according to the data the op shared??5 times.
Record against | Shrewsbury Town | 10 | 0 | 3 | 7 | 3:11 |
I've watched us beat Shrewsbury mate.
I can remember .Andy Preece scoring.in the snow winning away and I'm sure we beat them 5-0 at home when they were leaders of the old Div 3 c 1980 Stan McEwan may have scored a couple ?I've watched us beat Shrewsbury mate.
Preece scored 2 and Mellon one on New Years Day 97 at Shrewsbury.I can remember an Andy Preece hat trick in the snow winning away and I'm sure we beat them 5-0 at home when they were leaders of the old Div 3 c 1980 Stan McEwan may have scored a couple ?

The link you put up was world soccer net, don't know about the BFC official figures. So what's with the BFC official figures??
Both Burnley.Burnley the most played.
Most wins? I'll go for Blackburn.
Wasn't me, it was Basilrobbie who linked itThe link you put up was world soccer net, don't know about the BFC official figures.
I was on the Kop that day.Yes I thought the same when I read this thread - looked it up - March 1979
I was in the South Paddock, and a lad stood near me said he was David Tong's brother (DT had just moved to Shrewsbury from the Pool)
He kept pretty quiet about it as the match wore on though
here it is for the record
Blackpool v Shrewsbury Town, 20 March 1979

I was the o/p, I didn't put a link up. Basilrobbie put the world football link up which you quoted to me at 1739, it is incorrect concerning stats v Shrewsbury.Wasn't me, it was Basilrobbie who linked it

93-95 we lost five fixtures in a row against York. Including two 5-0 home losses and a 4-0 at theirs. But we have a winning record against them. We've got a good record against the Welsh teams. Looking at our record against York it says w2 d4 l1 f5 a4. Didn't we lose 0-5 against them in successive seasons in the 90's?
Well I know that now, I didn't state it I asked the question? Soz forgot it wasn't the op but BRRI was the o/p, I didn't put a link up. Basilrobbie put the world football link up which you quoted to me at 1739, it is incorrect concerning stats v Shrewsbury.
I saw us beat them in the snowI've watched us beat Shrewsbury mate.
Designed by the same firm that designed Blackpool Tower (Maxwell & Tuke), it was very completed in 1898 and rose to a height of 567 feet ( some 49 feet higher than ours). It fell into disrepair during WW1 and the owners could not afford to have it reconditioned. It was demolished in 1919-21. The Tower building below it lasted until 1969 when it was ravaged by fire. The Beatles played there 27 times, more than anywhere else in the UK apart from The Cavern. Was it nicked overnight ?!!
3 1 win on New Years Day? Certainly over the Christmas period. -8° on the car dashboard as we got near the ground.I can remember an Andy Preece hat trick in the snow winning away and I'm sure we beat them 5-0 at home when they were leaders of the old Div 3 c 1980 Stan McEwan may have scored a couple ?
Was about the only game played that day... remember driving in in the snow. Remember Preece getting a chorus of monkey chants from the local cousin-shaggers for his trouble.Preece scored 2 and Mellon one on New Years Day 97 at Shrewsbury.
Preece also scored 2 at Shrewsbury in 95.
Think you are right about Stan the man notching a couple in that big win.
Last time I saw a game where they'd left the snow on the pitch to keep the frost out of the ground, painted the lines blue and had an orange ball.I remember driving to Shrewsbury for that match on NYD...it was my turn....kept thinking no way is this match going to be on but yes it was and the win made the journey home( to Stockport) a lot more pleasant despite the freezing temperatures and the freezing fog descending.
A trip to Gay Meadow was always one to do and Shrewsbury is a real nice place to visit for a day out but the drive there is and remains a real pain so my last visit was on the train from Wilmslow which is less than an hour and every hour...the only trouble was It was to the new ground which is nowhere near the town centre( and railway station) unlike GM.Decided to walk from the station to the ground and then back after the game as well....completely knackered by that experience...it was a lot further than I thought and some steep roads to boot.At least we came away with 0 0 draw.
Yes just as I remember too....and I am sure we played in our traditional tangerine strip...with an orange ballLast time I saw a game where they'd left the snow on the pitch to keep the frost out of the ground, painted the lines blue and had an orange ball.
Yes, forgot about that bit.Yes just as I remember too....and I am sure we played in our traditional tangerine strip...with an orange ball
