Mick McCarthys Tangerine Army ❤️🍊

Love to have been over to experience that id say it was a great buzz
Yep, brilliant atmosphere all around the ground.
I genuinely think that the Great Escape chanting helped the lads in that final 10 minutes or so.
Absolutely made my weekend

Oh and Maxwell was excellent today, and Connolly's best performance imo.

Well done lads 👏 👏 👏

Absolute warriors today...to a man! Subs excellent. Game management at the end was great how they ran the clock down. If any of the usual bloody 'experts' want to criticize MM for his team selection and tactics they need to be certified. He showed his experience today and got his deserved win albeit with some long overdue good fortune. Utmp!!

Is this the start to the great escape?
Absolutely thrilled to get that win hopefully gives us confidence to motor on and stay up.

McCarthy has got more points in 5 games (5 pts) then Appleton got in his last 11 Games (4 pts)

Mick McCarthy’s Tangerine Army !!!
Hopefully you are right, today’s 1-0 win and 3 points was great. McCarthy after his first win today, is now averaging a point per game - 5 points from 5 games, McCarthy now needs to maintain an average of a point per game minimum to the end of the season to give us even a chance of avoiding relegation. I am not confident but I would be delighted to be proved wrong.

Hopefully he will do it ive all the confidence in the world he will or give his beat shot at it

I was at Huddersfield Town game, the first 5 minutes we sang Mick McCarthy’s Tangerine army in that 5 mins probably more then the two Appleton spells
Hardly any people connected with Appleton. He didn't help get a crowd going, showing passion does help, fans like to see someone going through the range of emotions they do, not a robot. Someone with personality that mirrors the fans.

We've been over the many reasons it was an obviously bad appointment and he'd always be up against it. The board really should have realised how important our atmosphere is and got a manager we could connect with to replace Critchley.

We needed a lift to counter the bad news of him going and in many peoples eyes all we got was more bad news. Add in the summer of public failures and its easy to see why many were down and the atmosphere flat from the off.

Hope Phil doesn’t see this post. He’ll pull an Apples stat out of the hat to beat it !!

That’s the thing with Appleton… he wasn’t on the bus with us. He ‘appeared’ not to care and it’s pretty much impossible to connect with or relate to someone like that…

Compare that to McCarthy and TC… sixty odd years old and still full of passion and enthusiasm for the game… Shit football or not, that passion is infectious and can carry you a long way 👍

Yes I agree, but maybe that was part of the problem rather than the solution. McCarthy has experienced much greater support than Appleton ever received. A Manager receiving total support from the fans should always outperform a Manager not receiving support, just take a look at Critch at QPR who we all rate very highly.

Appleton delivered 26 points from 27 games, almost 1 point a game. McCarthy has delivered 5 points from 5 games, a point a game, but before today’s great result McCarthy had only delivered 2 points from 4 games. The newly appointed Managers at Wigan, Cardiff and Huddersfield are all doing better than McCarthy. I still believe our recent two home draws in the 6 pointers against Huddersfield & Rotherham will ultimately have a huge bearing on our survival this season.

To be honest the football under McCarthy is some of the worst I've seen at Bloomfield Road since Nigel Worthington and his long ball, hoof into the corners win the second balls, safety first nonsense

However it's points that matter and that was massive today
I know what u mean phil but were in a dog fight... scrappy shitty football at its best🙈 but if we get points from it and stay up then so be it... glad gabriel n thompson got on i do think they should be starting🍊

Yeah i get you, either way no matter what happens at the end of the season id sleep better with McCarthy at the helm in a relegation fight then Appleton.

Yeah but they will blip and we will have good spells too, and we have to play Cardiff & Wigan at home yet so hopefully those games will be wins and have a better bearing on us staying up

Warnock has only had 1 game in charge ffs

I thought the 3 subs made a real difference to calm the game down a little. A wise head from Mick was really needed
I thought WTF is he doing when I saw he was bringing on 3 full backs.
He was absolutely right as it turned out , they tightened us up in midfield and defence. He went up in my estimation. He saw the problem, two speedier full backs and fresh legs did the trick. Every credit to M AND TC

I also nearly died when I saw he was bringing on 3 full backs, and then again when I saw it was going to a back 5!

How wrong we were! 😅

I think we played better when we went 532 than the rest of the game (bar the first 10 mins)!

A good manager will spot what’s not working properly and have the balls to correct it.
McCarthy would have been slated if we’d lost.
Fortunately he’s not one to be shirk such big decisions.

I don’t accept that “ scrappy, shitty football at its best “ is the only way forward. We have some talented attacking players in our squad and if McCarthy uses them the right way, especially in home games, I think we can get enough points to survive this season. Whilst I agree the Stoke result was fantastic, looking at the stats from that game, a repeat of the Stoke performance, formation and tactics is in my opinion unlikely to deliver the points total we need at the end of the season to avoid relegation. I am not interested in “ Mick giving it his best shot “ I am only interested in Mick using all of our strengths to give Blackpool the best chance of staying up, anything else is a failure. Begs the question is McCarthy too predictable, hopefully now that he knows the Blackpool squad, whatever he has learnt from his last managerial experience at Cardiff when he lost 8 consecutive Championship games, will become a factor in how he sets us up to play over the rest of this season.

McCarthy on Saturday not only got his 1st Blackpool win in 5 Championship games, but we also scored our 1st Championship goal under McCarthy with 11 men on the field.
