Having heard about the incident yesterday at Craven Cottage, I hear there were also incidents at Oldham, Wycombe and Bradford and games halted. I dont recall this happening 10/20/30 years ago or is this a modern phenomenon?

Just gets reported now I guess, although I don’t recall long delays previously, probably just carried on while the poor person was being dealt with.

I think its to do with the fact that if the medical teams are dealing with incidents off the field there is no one to deal with an incident on the pitch should the need arise.

It is a pity they had not been able to declare a medical incident when we played Wolves away in the PL. The poor Pool supporter (who was a doctor) had a heart attack towards the back of the stand. The response from the stewards and other staff was poor and seeing him manhandled out like a sack of potatoes was truely shocking to watch and sadly he died. 🙁

Exactly

So what are you saying? That nobody had a heart attack at sporting venues 10 20 or 30 years ago.

Apparently its a rule change and Referee's have been told to stop play when a medical incident is taking place - In the past I have seen many incidents but they never stopped play until very recently

BFCPete,
spot on.
It was a disgrace the way the 'stewards' reacted.

I’ve heard this mentioned. Was this announced anywhere at the time? Don’t remember seeing it. Or has it just happened as it’s happened so to speak. It makes sense just interested when this was decided.

I remember the Wolves away one and a few others over the years. Don’t remember all the footballer issues though?

I saw a piece the other day saying that the game used to continue when medical emergencies happen but now players have become more alert and sensitive to it and now play their part by alerting their own medical teams to it.

Have you a link to this? So it’s saying players are looking out in stands more than they use to?

Not one for conspiracy theories however the number of people awaiting diagnosis or treatment due to the pandemic may give rise to a higher potential for medical emergencies occuring particularly with thousands gathered at one venue in atmospheric situations.

That's hardly a conspiracy theory Orange.

Given the way the authorities have prioritised Covid, I'd call it sound logic.

Shit username

Covid jabs is the cause according to a Fulham fan on the tube last night..🤦
To be fair you don't know if it is or isn't, people didn't used to see it as much even without stopping games, now we do, covid is an obvious big change, not beyond the realms of possibility that its at least partly involved, whether the virus itself as well as some cases with the jabs.

The vaccines do cause heart inflammation issues especially in men. It went up a bit recently from past figures, the studies revealed a bit higher % per 1000 or whatever it was, still was small overall. But it wouldn't surprise me if it was a bit more common that comes out in the next years.

Especially with giving people booster shots and keeping them on high antibody alert. This was mentioned recently by eu regulators that it is likely to cause the immune system to weaken and maybe that has other adverse affects, who knows.

And the arch conspiracy theorist rises to the neatly cast fly...
