MCLF: Match Blog: the Mighty vs Nottingham Forest

"Lavery is a wasp. With Joseph beside him, the pair of them become a swarm."

They really do, could be a great pairing these 2 and the energy and endeavour you get is hard to live with, as forest found out.

Rhodes can finish but the pressing side we've missed somewhat and these 2 and fast, charge around and have quality. Rhodes does put himself about but obviously isn't as quick etc.

Yes. 100% I think Rhodes is masterful at what he does, but I don't think what he does makes things happen. He's on the end of things, not the architect of things and long term, if these two are fit, then Rhodes for me would fill in when they need a break and not the other way round.

Unfortunately Lavery fit long term is something I don't know if we'll ever see as the way he plays seems to equate too hamstring injuries.

Just how I saw it from the North. Visceral stuff, football how it should be. Your best this season and rightly so for the night at Bloomfield Road that was the best this season (or last, for that matter). All the resons why we love our club, despite every setback, every disappointment 👍

I don't know how you do it Matt but you encapsulate the feelings every Blackpool supporter goes through watching a match.
I love the descriptions of players and events, that paints the perfect picture of the agony and ecstacy that Blackpool supporters go through!!

Another cracking blog👍🏻

Yeah, although he does use his know how, guile, experience etc to create at times too. It's just he doesn't have that pace.

Great to have though and whichever way we do it, whether he starts and is replaced by one of the wasps, or whether the wasps swarm and do their bit and then he comes on,

Either way it gives us options.

Better late than never.
Well worth the wait td, that game had just about everything a Cup tie should have, except the right result! Oh and a commentator who knows we play in tangerine

A blog worthy of the match. If Lavery is like a wasp, Joseph is like a hornet, (a wasp on steroids).

Yeah, don't get me wrong, he's going to play his part and he's going to score maybe another 10 goals and he's an absolute privalige to see. but the little and large combination of pace is something that will rip teams up in a way that destroys them and shapes entire games, forces oppositions to change tactics in a way that moments of guile don't.

That said, I also really like Rhodes/Lavs as a pair as I think Rhodes is only player I've seen who really can partner Lavs cos he's so alert and aware.

Options indeed.

And if all else fails, Marv up front.

You don't need pace if you have what he has he reads the game so well and his movement is incredible but i think your saying that in certain ways

Excellent blog.

It was just a really enjoyable game, and shows that although results are the most important thing obviously, fans can still come away from a game having enjoyed it even in defeat.

After the game I read some online comments from some neutrals who were watching on TV:

"2-2. More loud unapologetic swearing. Ice on the pitch. Empty seats everywhere, yet somehow a mental atmosphere.

This is fantastic.
"

Followed by:

"This has been an absolutely cracking tie. Blackpool have been relentless and aggressive the last 25 minutes. You'd never tell there's 2 divisions between them."

It's the kind of performance I want to see from my team, even if we lose. They gave it everything.

Even Critch looked a bit excited in his pre match interview and didn't bang on about tough games and respecting the opposition.

Said exactly the same and we did comment on if some of these away days were we have lost are a bit mundane for Mr Critchley and thus the team's poor performances?
