MCLF Match Blog - the Mighty vs Northampton Town

Don't know how you do it. That sums up a crap night after another 70 mile drive perfectly. Apart, this is, from - who oiled the pitch? Never seen so many pratfalls in one game of football 😬

Despite the result still an enjoyable read, quick note on the lack of success or defining moments of Northampton though, it's important to remember that they actually played in the top flight of English football more recently than PNE!

The south stand roof stands out for me, in this blog. I can imagine looking up at it myself and thinking "oh fuck off!" It's great that you took a photo of it during the game.

The only silver lining when we are rubbish is that Matt’s blogs are even better than usual. Brilliant stuff - although, to be pedantic, the green and cream trams are from the 1930s not the 1920s.

I thought the first ones were built in about 1928 though that might be the single decker ones...

#nerdchat.

Update.

You are right and I am wrong
Walter Luff moved from Leeds to Blackpool in 1933 and brought new designs with him.

#tramchat indeed

Back to the game, we played very lethargically, passed poorly but still should have won. On another day, Beesley scores his two, Dale has to score.

As for Jimmy's backpass...

A point was the least we deserved despite not being on point.

Didn't they go up from the basement in 4 seasons or something like that? And end up back again almost as quickly?

Yeah, I believe within 9 seasons they went up from div 4 to the 1st division and then back down to the 4th during the 60's.
