MCLF Match blog - the Mighty vs Exeter City

Another good one. Penalty aside, I thought Rhodes contributed well. He dropped deep quite a bit in a Harry Kane kind of way a lot to try to set things going on a disjointed day for the Pool. This was certainly needed at times as our passing through midfield was out of sync too much today.

Exeter struggled a bit but we should remember they are a Community owned club with a very low wage bill and minimal resources. Spoke to a few of their fans about this after the game. Singing 'you're ** shit' at them was pretty poor form in my opinion. Another bad shout on a day when there were a few on and off the pitch, what with pensioners and their kids being body searched on entering the South and West at the club's demand etc. Time we started getting our act together if we have ambitions for this season to not be a waste on all accounts.

Thanks. 7 wins on the bounce at home in all comps now. Crack that into the away form and it will be fine.
Think it might take a bit of free thinking from Neil 'tactical mind palace' Critchley. I'm getting a bit edgy with him simply waiting for it to click and want to see him try something. That's worked at home, but if anything, away performances are declining. I've no idea why it is that we can't do it, but I think we need that fresh energy of trying something a bit different. Lavs will help in terms of pace on break.

I dunno, if we were a community club I wouldn't want people to exempt us from the usual 'witty' terrace song sheet.

Totally agree on all the frisking and that. I got a perfectly jovial and amiable bloke who had the sense to chat and be polite but it wasn't case for everyone and some of the people being frisked must have been about 80.

I'm finding it hard to feel excited about today. This season is so formulaic. Win at home, fuck up away, repeat, stay eighth, move to 3 points of playffs, drift out to seven, repeat, atmosphere fitful and subdued.
100% agree with this @td53 - an away win would be such a massive monkey off our back - beat Brizzle - hope a few results go our way and it would feel like we were going in to the Charlton game with a bit more purpose. For me, it's the fact 3 points are great but they don't seem to be getting us anywhere.
I think the next two weeks with so many of the teams above us playing their games in hand will give us more of a level playing pitch and see where we're actually up to.

The fact that with the players we have available that we have only scored 1 goal in our last 4 away league games should have him scrunching uo his tactics and starting again.

The Charlton game will be postponed. Fourth round of the Cup.

As TAM said last night, 7 of our 12 away goals came at Fleetwood and Pompey. So just 5 goals in our other 10 away games.

That's diabolical. We managed two at a Premier League ground.

Maybe having Gabriel and Lyons at WB helped. Pushing Dembele and CJ up alongside JR.
