What is happening to this world we live in?
One day a young Blackpool footballer come out and says he's gay, which is his right.
The congratulations are still pouring in from all over the world!
The next day Blackpool footballer is being investigated by the chief governing body of English football for remarks he made when he was a kid!
So well done Daniel and you are allowed free speech in this country.
NO Marvin you are not allowed your own opinion and no free speech for you!

I teach my kids about their digital footprint unfortunately Marvin didn't get the same guidance. It may come back to bite which is a shame, however we need to educate young potential professional sports people about the importance of what they put in writing out to the big wide world.

I can’t see it going anywhere

He was in the youth team at Oxford at the time it seems

He’s apologised unreservedly I think that will be enough

I understand that Marvin hails from Nigeria where gay marriage is banned, so how are people from that environment supposed to deal with events like yesterday.
And my point is if one person is allowed free speech then so is the person stood next to him.
Surely Marvin is entitled to his own beliefs?
As he says in his statement, they are no longer his beliefs. He made them as a poorly informed 17 yr old and recognises he has grown and developed. If anything it's worth noting that people can change and grow and become more enlightened as life goes on - social media needs to start recognising some of that.

No you're only allowed any kind of speech if it fits all the goody goody agenda.
Jake's come out earlier in the week, good for him probably a massive weight off his shoulders. I personally don't give a shit if he's gay, straight or a bloody Martian.

Likewise Marv has tweeted something from a decade ago when he was a kid and didn't know any better. He, more than likely doesn't hold those views anymore (especially with this taking the knee, equality for everyone)

I would imagine that all the Blackpool players would have been told about Jake long before he came out and I would also imagine that that would have been the time for everyone to have their say.

IF Marvin still holds his views then I don't expect to see him at Bloomfield Rd in the not to distant future.
And I'm certain everyone would be delighted

Jake, Sky and the Club apparently kept the announcement under wraps for around a month, congratulating themselves that the announcement was managed and didn't leak.
That was long enough for someone, probably a journalist, to do some Twitter archaeology in time for Jake's announcement.
Cynical.
As for the FA, this won't be the first time they've sanctioned a player for what they said as a child. I fear a suspension, rather than an act of forgiveness. It could be a good story of how people move on.

Just to say I have the utmost respect for Marvin having apologised .. still have none for Bright Osayi-Samuel who refused to apologise for his beliefs despite the fact it would cause others hurt.

Sends an odd message when the only gay player is in the same squad as someone they want to punish for a historical tweet..

Let's potentially hurt their team and I dont think it would as we have top guys but given Neville said dressing rooms are the last to evolve lets risk causing discomfort. Even though i don't think it would happen.

Plus Jake doesn't want that so why put him in a situation where he, not feels bad because he's done nothing wrong at all, but the sequence of event led to hurting our side. Obviously the comments are all on Marv. But why create any discomfort frok an obviously close squad where the first footballer feels comfortable to come out....

But would be a strange situation to punish him, from so long ago, when he's apologised and we are a close group.

Also jake doesn't want that at all and has tweeted his support for Marv...

And if he does still hold the same belief's, he had better not dare to speak openly.
Do they still deport slaves to the colonies ?

Shut up!! do you watch what your kids are posting 24 hours a day ??
No one is suggesting you monitor what your kids post, we are talking about educating your kids to understand that once something has been posted on Social Media its there for ever, Marvin is a perfect example of that. If you can't understand that your obviously a moron.

No he isn’t non of us are sadly the right of freedom of speech and to voice your opinion as fought for by our parents generation can no longer be expressed in this country without fear of being silenced or vilified by the mob

He was questioning marvins upbringing, if you don’t get how that is out of order then you are an even bigger moron👍🏻

Bloody hell, that's a logic jump and a half.

So, something is obviously annoying you about all this, just tell us straight what exactly it is (no pun intended)

Some on this board would disagree with that if it has a chance of upsetting some poor sensitive soul.
