Man of The Match.....

It's strange how people see things differently. The lads behind me were slagging Carey off for most of the first half for "always going backwards"! There wasn't a bad performance from anyone today, IMO, and long may that continue!
Connolly was cack when he came on. Everyone else to a man Bob on, Kenny was class and prob my MOM but I don’t begrudge it Dembele he is a a joy to watch. Husband class too.

Dougall was the best player on the pitch today by a mile

He's literally the perfect example of the size and the difficulty of the step up between L1 and The Championship, he's real top class in L1 but probably bottom 8 at Championship level, that unfortunately that is one of the things clubs our size are up against in the championship 🤷

Can't argue too much with Kaddy, most of our stuff went through him. Kenny also a shout and Beez bagged two.

Kenny Dougall by a country mile
Kenny has been brilliant this season and has improved on the ball, no doubt partly from his time spent in the championship, but also since Critchley came back.

He's kept the solid tackling play, the occasional goals and good shots and improved his passing range and has been running the midfield in games like today.

Impressive performance today, from some building at the back, calm on the ball, to linking play up top. All round stuff from an experienced player.

Yep, time for a new contract.

Dougall was head and shoulders above anyone else today. Magnificent.

Regarding Carey, he was poor at the start of the season, but in the last few games he's really improved significantly and showing what he's capable of when playing with a bit more belief. I think he may well have a very strong second half of season and I'm glad we're sticking with him, and many on here are recognising his improvement. It isn't the first time a Dougall-Carey midfield combo has worked well btw, even in the championship.

Dembele was good, I think his passing ability is a little overlooked because of his skilful turns and ability to run with the ball, but he can definitely pick a pass. It was also good to get a bit longer with him on the pitch too, hopefully building to some 90 minute appearances.

Beesley was the other obvious candidate. He reminds me a little bit of John Murphy in his style, and I think given good service he'll get a decent tally in league one.

Is Dougall's contract up at the end of the season? Definitely a useful player to have around whether we are in L1 or the Championship.

Add consistency? I think he’s been consistently good all season! (Lincoln excepted). If Kenny needs to be consistently 7 or 8 & above each game (in a poor standard L1).
If Kenny had performed consistently good / very good, 'all season', in a pee poor standard L1, he'd have been resellected into the Australia squad, who only sit 27th in the world rankings (lowly Wales being 28th).
He had a great game yesterday & we need him to play the same way at Pompey.

Beesley gives us a target to aim for with the long balls out from the back and to be fair he’s the only one who wins more aerial duals than he loses.
Gary Madine’s replacement!

It can be difficult to choose a motm, as different positions require different things. And individuals rely on colleagues. Strikers need service etc. Grafters do the dirty work. Players can stand out, though, of course. I think Kenny deserved it on Saturday but Beesley, Hubby and Dembele were all good shouts too.

Has Beesley crashed his car and done a runner then?
