Apologies to @THEMISSINGLINK for stealing the opening day thunder but with 45 mph winds and rain set to batter the North West, welcome back the cricket season ... delayed
Yes, it's just an inconvenience really. Certainly gets in the way of all those cricket formats aimed at people who don't really understand cricket.A real shame but hardly surprising . . . four day cricket is not a priority these days.
It’s all about bums on seats not sensible ideasYou'd think that they'd schedule some of the one day stuff around this time as there's a better chance of getting the game completed given the higher weather tolerance these formats have.
Always thought it was crackers. Conjures up an image of Colin Croft trying to bowl whilst wearing five jumpers.Far too early for the cricket season to start for me, should start in May and not a day before.
They had to go off one opening day at Derby because of snow!!Always thought it was crackers. Conjures up an image of Colin Croft trying to bowl whilst wearing five jumpers.
I was with you until you mentioned the competition, that should be assigned to Room 101.Beginning of April and not fit for cricket - wow what a surprise. Two of the top teams programmed to meet in a match that might not even happen. Are the ECB stupid - or are they deliberately trying to sabotage country cricket? Best thing to do with April would be an indoor 100! Doh
I think it was at Buxton, and in June if my ancient memory cells are still working. They had to go off one opening day at Derby because of snow!!
Was deffo first day of the season. Buxton seems more likely.I think it was at Buxton, and in June if my ancient memory cells are still working.
Looks like I got the weather and the County right, not much else though

I thought you were. I am at a total loss as to why the T20 was not rehashed with extra overseas signings, avoiding the need for this awful competition.Basilexile: I would happily ditch the 100 as well, but there's as much chance of that happening as SS changing his mind on the manager. I was just being sarky. The 100 could quite well be played in a rainstorm and gale, and might be some fun then. Keep August for real cricket. Alas it won't happen! Room 101 an excellent venue name.
