Kier Starmer

There will always be people shouting loudly from the fringes of normality. It's as if those people need something or somebody to hate in order to hold a grievance.

Could anyone really get behind this pillock?

Never in my lifetime have we be faced with two less sincere party leaders than we have now, fuck knows what the answer is but it ain’t either of these two absolute clowns🤷‍♂️
Is this not a bit like not being allowed an opinion on how you think we play if you don't attend a game 🤷

Happy for Labour to have a turn rather than the repeated whoppers, liars and self-serving Tories we’ve had in recent years. Does anyone really think Starmer would be a worse PM than Boris?
Well, no doubt we'd have been in lockdown harder and for longer under KS, the schools would've stayed shut, meaning even more disruption to children's eduction, plus I have my doubts we'd have done so well on vaccination, so in some crucial respects he would've been worse.

Crystal ball required for that. Re what actually happened , the Covid enquiry, Partygate and the financial abuse re PPE contracts demonstrates Covid mismanagement by this Government.

Why are you lying when I've given you the name of the Civil Servant who signed off the contracts so many times?

He's about a country mile ahead of anything the Tories can dig up

Oh dear, pure speculation, no facts!!

Reality, as we all know know, an earlier lockdown would have been a shorter lockdown

The quality, integrity and motivation of the MPs of all parties is certainly the lowest it has ever been. All are political careerists rather than bringing real life experiences and are in it for themselves and their cronies, rather than the public. None of the parties really deserve to be running the country. For the first time, I am considering not voting or spoiling my ballot paper

With duffers like Starmer and Sunak one day this country will finally wake up to what most of Europe has in some form PR.
Only Belarus has our voting system says it all really.

Starmer is not a career politician.
This is evidenced by the fact that he used to be head of the CPS - an entirely different career where he served his country in a very difficult role. Then after this he became a politician, I'd say that this career path would be a good grounding for a future PM. So he isn't a career politician.

There are some desperate attacks on here, like what he would have done if he had been in charge during the he pandemic. It's fantasy politics, we can't possibly know what would have happened if we had had a competent government during the pandemic.

You had a perfectly decent centre left PM in waiting but decided to believe the most vitrolic media smears since Michael Foot and vote against your own interests. I shall be drawing a willy on my ballot and I hope you do too.

Starmer is bland and doesn't look international class to me. However, he's head and shoulders above the opposition.

tbh I don't think there's a leader amongst any of them.

I'm sure mid-term there will be a call for Burnham to get a seat and become PM. Probably little better in truth.

Could Ed Milliband be persuaded to leave his, presumably happy life to get involved? I doubt it.

Ed Milliband is on the Labour front bench.
David Milliband has said he will not return and is out of the country and therefore out of the game.
Future leader?
For me Wes Streeting.

Burnham would need to become an MP to become leader, he is not standing at the moment. I think he enjoys being mayor of GM more.

Streeting has blown it for me with his support of private medicine in the NHS. I don't think the Westmeinster bubble understands how important the NHS is to the public. All the flotsam and jetsam about we can't afford it, the only reason it has a record budget is the 5 years of PPE ordered at £15B ( much unusable ad now having to pay to burn and store it) and Test and Trace at £37 B charged to it.Take those out and iti s a hufely evident budget cut in real terms.

Dan Jarvis has potential, former major in the Parachute Regt, former mayor of South Yorkshire.

If Labour do gain power I'm hoping he gets a prominent position in government.

Agree. That was not a welcome comment from Streeting. My support would go to Burnham if he returned to Parliament, or Lisa Nandy.

Sorry I meant David.

Burnham would be faced with the question probably 3 years in.

Andy Burnham is perhaps the only politician I can stomach and if he ever became the leader of the Labour Party I would vote for them for the first time in my life.

He ended up playing politics with the lives of the people of Manchester (and beyond) during the pandemic, so your stomach must be stronger than mine.

Talk me through Boris' and his acolytes behaviour in the pandemic. Played with the lives of us all and made a mess of it.

Yeah well tbf I don’t pay that much attention to any if it anymore, they all piss me if but the odd bit I’ve seen if Burnham he seems ok.

I’ve never not voted but unless I happen to be back in the uk when it’s on I won’t be next time.

Reading this is like reading a version of tweedle dee and tweedle dum. Lines drawn, no attempt by either side to understand or indeed give credit to the other side.

To those who will not vote or draw whatever on their ballot papers, why not vote Green. The current mess we are in with flooding etc should be a warning to us all. I don't agree with all the greens ideas, but they are in my opinion on the right tracks, or should I say in the right boats!

First out of the pandemic in Europe.
So, by a few weeks maybe, at best Meanwhile far too many died . It was clear that we locked down too late . BJ wasnt interested at the beginning . Weve seen the quotes about " let the bodies pile etc " and damning evidence at the Covid Enquiry, at which Sunak appeared to have lost his memory.

I genuinely can't see one single redeeming feature of the last 14 years of Conservative Government, so happy to hear all about their achievements that means they deserve another chance.

I don't disagree that alternatives should be looked at, like the Greens, but not at the risk of splitting the vote and allowing these crooks back in.

The way that Sunak laughs and grins his way through PMQs - as if he hasn't a care in the world - is condescending, arrogant and completely misjudged.
