Josh & Vader

If the time to bring them on isn’t at 2-1 or 3-1 down then when is it???
Would have involved changing the shape which would have been too much for Mick and TC to cope with.

Instead, we made two subs in central midfield that weakened us and meant we got even more overrun. Bowler has been poor since he returned but the fact we’ve not utilised his talent in setting the team up or tactically, highlights the limited ability of our management team. Billy basic stuff.

Poveda and Bowler must be thinking WTF watching CJ forget he’s got the ball or nearly tripping over it when he went on that run down the right.

Both looked good when they came on, they brought energy and would have caused Coventry problems, they’d more than likely would have needed to put two on each of them, but way too late.

Yep agree with this. Whether Patino and Fiorini are having average games or not, replacing either of them for bloody Carey isn't gonna make anything better.
As for Bowler and Poveda, christ sake man just play them and set up around them to compensate for their deficienciesvwhilst reaping the rewards of their strengths. Not rocket science really just limited old school management isn't it

The Bowler of last season would be starting every week. This season's Bowler is right where he belongs, on the bench. If his performances were as bad in Greece, no wonder they offloaded him.

Poveda is a different story, has shown glimpses of what he can do, despite his apparently poor attitude.

Set up to play round them? Are you serious? Sum total of nothing between them.

I would have taken Poveda off again and played with 10 men.

Complete liability when he was on.
Fair enough I wouldn’t know. I’d left by then.
But surely the manager has to find a way of getting the best out of them? They are our two game changers and we aren’t utilising them

He's getting the best out of them by leaving them on the Bench.... 👍

So you don’t think they’re potential game changers?
I don't think either of them offer enough consistently enough to merit much more game time. Poveda in particular is an absolute luxury player... He was blowing out of his arse after 30 minutes vs Blackburn. Josh has been OK at times, but we play better without him.

The first two subs baffled me. They were just like for like. Bowler did more in ten minutes than any other forward thinking player on the pitch for us. 4-1 down was way to late for attacking players to make a difference. Bowler did well but on the other hand Poveda took uselessness and lack of interest and desire to a new low level.

Spot on. I would go much further. I think it's MM's way of saying this is what I think of the players most fans want to see. I would have understood if either or both of them had told MM to stick it where the sun don't shine.

Absolute nonsense. Poveda will have been told to "make something happen with your skill " which is why he tried to do that when he came on. So he lost the ball...what was he supposed to do ? Track back and stop them scoring again. He should have been on from the start and if he's getting nowhere then take him off. At least give him a chance or send him back to Leeds if he's a bad boy.

When you have players such as Bowler and Poveda you set the team up to get the best out of them

Unfortunately for us we have McCarthy and his safety first approach

He was never going to be the man to get the best out of our creative players

Never in a bunch of ** Sundays, hence why the appointment of McCarthy was so ridiculous

TBF to Bowler it's all been stop start since he's come back, Wasn't match fit when he arrived, then played in midfield. He's not had a regular run of games..MM & TC seem so out of touch with the modern game..Most certainly haven't done their homework on our players..The board haven't done their homework appointing them either when we've got players like Poveda & Bowler in the squad.

And apparently the club doesn't have much money yet we are paying close on 25k a week in wages for players like Bowler and Poveda to sit on the bench

It's ** stupid

These 2 could have saved our season

That pair couldn’t save the date for a wedding, never mind our season!!

Poveda is absolutely crap!!

I was going mad even when CJ wasn't hooked at HT and dumbfounded at the removal of the midfield. 🦖 in full effect.....

To be fair Phil, Corberan didn't get a tune out of Bowler either during his time in Greece. He hasn't looked anywhere near the player he was.

At 3-1 down it was surely worth the risk of throwing on Bowler at least. I would have subbed Thompson for Thorniley personally and moved Husband in. Connolly needed to stay where he was. Bowler looked ok when he came on but Poveda looks out of sorts.

Agree was awful in his cameo yesterday whereas Josh at least asked some questions.
Out of the 2 I know which one I would have ahead of the other in terms of team selection for the game at Deepdung.

Anyone else think we should have kept the Canadian lad on loan here for the full season (assuming it wasn't Wolves' choice to recall him).
