January 2024 Transfer thread.

That's 6 out and 2 in, one of which isn't fit so we have got to have someone else lined up.
Maybe but no great injury problems which last season took 6 or 7 out a time. Apart from Dougall most leaving were fringe players and we had plenty of players to face Bolton with 8 changes,so I am not unduly worried.
Autos are beyond us but
still a realistic chance of playoffs, and we might be needing some championship ready players in a, few months, so space in the squad is very much needed, rather than frantically loaning out players, as the window shuts to bring in inexperienced Prem youth and hope it works

We've been linked to Andy Rinomhota of Cardiff. An experienced championship-level defensive midfielder. Would be a solid Kenny replacement.

Also, looks like Keshi Anderson is available for a loan move. I'd snap their hands off to bring him back.

Keshi Anderson been out injured for a good few months only back in Birmingham squad recently. No thanks
Jesus. Who do you think we are?

Even if it takes a month to get him up to speed, Kesh Anderson would be an unbelievable signing for any league one team

We really are scraping the barrel if we get Anderson back. He’s another gets injured watching match of the day.
A loan until the end of the season would be low-risk high-reward.

If he stays fit, he bosses league one. If he gets injured again, send him back.

You can’t just send loans back ? Would be ridiculous to resign him.
Look how it went signing Bridcutt. Stewart. Goode. Trybull.

If only it was that straightforward. If he gets injured here he can only go back if they will take him.

I love Keshi and if we could get half a season out of him it would be amazing, but we would be lucky to get 6 weeks out of him at most. If he could have stayed fit, I'm convinced he would have been a prem player, but he's made of glass unfortunately. No point in getting rid of players to reduce to wage bill, only to then screw that up by getting an injury prone player back.

Keshi is not..and never was Premiership quality. Quite surprised he got another Championship club so soon after leaving us tbh. Too injury prone and far too inconsistent for me.

I'm not saying he's prem quality now, I'm saying if he'd been able to stay fit and make the most of his talent then he could have been prem quality. Injury fucked any chance of that happening.

Maybe lower end prem, like Luton. He was talented and everytime it seemed he was really gonna push on he git injured. He's now the type of player that a league 1 team will take a punt on, hoping to get half a season out him like we did with Stewart.

Loan.

"Now The Star understands that a deal to take him to Blackpool is close to completion. The deal is believed to be a loan until the end of the current campaign that would see him to the end of his contract and effectively to a likely exit from a three-year association with Sheffield Wednesday.

"Subject to any unforeseen late hiccups or changes of mind, he is set to join a Blackpool side eighth in the League One table

Finnigan was touted as a loan by the press.

With his Shef Weds contract ending at the end of the season, surely a permanent move makes more sense?

Different press. This is the Sheffield Star with what looks like some decent local info, but we'll find out later today. Not boxed off as it stands.

A loan makes sense for the player, enables him to freely negotiate in summer.

Regarding OWEN MOXON

No shot that is real.

We bid 250k in the Summer, refuse to believe we wouldn't meet 150k now if we wanted to.
He's refused to sign a contract since then so they're getting what they can for him. The fee raised to £250k with add ons.
Over the years, we have bid for plenty of players, and even agreed fees with clubs for a lot of them. The problems arise when we try and arrange personal terms with the players concerned. It's so sickening for Blackpool fans when they turn us down.

Reality is we can’t compete on contracts with a club like Portsmouth, with their attendances. They are also handily placed for promotion so was only going to be one winner.

Can't be true @BlackpoolFC says no and I know who I believe 🤣🤣🤣

And where would Keshi play? Left wing back? Right wing back?

It wouldn’t surprise me if someone came in for Virtue, but recently he looked very useful for a match day squad of 18.

Matty Virtue signed in January 2019, which is 5 years ago and, according to Soccerbase, he has only started 46 league games for us in that time. It's a very poor return on 5 years wages. Maybe 4, if Lincoln took his wages on last season. He really needs to be at a club where can start regularly, he's 27 in May.
