…… bet it wasn’t his fault again
Heated exchange with several Mansfield fans at the end of the game yesterday. Had to be held back by club officials. Apparently wouldn’t wear the poppy againWhat's he done / said Mosser?
Hates the English but doesn’t mind taking the English pound Can’t wait for the idiot to retireI don’t have an issue with him not wearing the poppy to be honest. It shouldn’t be an issue.
However he does seem to court controversy wherever he goes and brings a lot of the problems on himself.
And vice versa to be fairHe just loves to have a go at fans from the safety of the pitch and stewards. A first class wanker.
He is British and takes the British pound.Hates the English but doesn’t mind taking the English pound Can’t wait for the idiot to retire
Killian Phillips is his young successor so the issue won't disappear once Mclean has retired. It's just personal choice at the end of the day.Hates the English but doesn’t mind taking the English pound Can’t wait for the idiot to retire
It’s a figure of speech…He is British and takes the British pound.
Killian Philips born in the USA and moved to Dublin as a boy this kid must have been brain washed !Killian Phillips is his young successor so the issue won't disappear once Mclean has retired. It's just personal choice at the end of the day.
Despite what has gone on in history many thousands of Irish nationals fought for the allies and lost their lives.I’ve got a bit of sympathy with him on this issue (I don’t have a view on the rest of his personality). Wearing or not wearing a poppy (or taking part in any other sort of gesture) is his choice and absolutely nothing to do with anyone else. Remember it’s only the last 20 years or so that poppy’s have been stitched into football shirts, before that no one would even have known his opinions. People weren’t able to judge (or think they have the right to) as they are now.
There’s plenty of pricks like those in the video all too keen to abuse him from the safety of the stands, they wouldn’t know the first thing about the history of Irish politics, and would be too ignorant to want to learn.
I fairness, McClean has said that if the Poppy were only used as an emblem to honour the memory of the dead from the 2 World Wars, he would have no problem wearing one.Despite what has gone on in history many thousands of Irish nationals fought for the allies and lost their lives.
It’s hard to reconcile that with the stance of people like him in that regard.
That’s not my point. I don’t know enough about it to decide whether I agree with his standpoint.Despite what has gone on in history many thousands of Irish nationals fought for the allies and lost their lives.
It’s hard to reconcile that with the stance of people like him in that regard.
There you go then. But the morons goading him from the stands aren’t interested in that inconvenient fact….I fairness, McClean has said that if the Poppy were only used as an emblem to honour the memory of the dead from the 2 World Wars, he would have no problem wearing one.
No it is not. There is no such thing as an English pound. It’s a figure of speech…
He’s plying his trade in the ‘English’ League!!
You’re looking at it literallyNo it is not. There is no such thing as an English pound.
There’s a bit more to it than his ‘official’ stance on the Poppy though @Qblock. He’s taunted Fans pointing to his ‘Free Derry’ tattoo and also made the post on his instagram with the IRA balaclava. There you go then. But the morons goading him from the stands aren’t interested in that inconvenient fact….
Fair enough, as I said above I don’t know enough about it.There’s a bit more to it than his ‘official’ stance on the Poppy though @Qblock. He’s taunted Fans pointing to his ‘Free Derry’ tattoo and also made the post on his instagram with the IRA balaclava.
On the video that’s linked above he’s also egging the supporters on and winding the situation up.
I don’t agree with the abuse he gets, but I don’t agree with the way he has conducted himself either.
To be sure, to be sureSurely everyone on both sides of the debate is tired of this topic now, it’s like clockwork every November
I agree on all points.I don’t have an issue with him not wearing the poppy to be honest. It shouldn’t be an issue.
However he does seem to court controversy wherever he goes and brings a lot of the problems on himself.
Much as the fans just stand there gesturing behind stewards? They know it wouldn't be much of a match up as a square go.He just loves to have a go at fans from the safety of the pitch and stewards. A first class wanker.
The Americans are normally not the brightest of folk are they!Killian Philips born in the USA and moved to Dublin as a boy this kid must have been brain washed !
Does he not know Thousands of Irish men fought in the WW1 etc
There is no morel high ground, both he and the fans making death threats are vile low lifesI'm not sure people online making death threats to his wife and kids can take the higher moral ground,
I’d say you probably ought to expect a different standard of behaviour from a professional player than a group of pissed up football fans.Where is the intolerance? Is it with McLean or the mob in the stand?
Saw the clip and was stunned. I think the Mansfield fan should be arrested for wearing a replica top over a hoody, an offence for anyone over the age of 12.
I’d say you probably ought to expect a different standard of behaviour from a professional player than a group of pissed up football fans.
I liken McCleans approach to someone wandering into pub, calling everyone in there a ** and then whining when folk have a pop back.
The tattoo on his leg is a classic example…. I’ve no particular issue with him having the tattoo…However there’s loads of pictures (and he did exactly the same thing at Bloomfield Road) of him lifting up his shorts and purposefully looking to wind up the crowd and get a reaction.
We really don’t need players to be bringing their personal politics onto the football field and certainly not the kind of stuff that is understandably going to cause unrest from the supporters.
And I don’t agree with the reaction to him from the stands by the way, but the bloke is an idiot… simple as that !
