If he feels his abilities are no better than the 3rd Division - and at a club struggling to pay player wages - then who are we to argue? We can do better.

Like others, I’m going on Alan Nixon’s comments that ourselves and other Championship teams were in for him. He’s been at Wednesday before and judging by many of their fans’ comments they didn’t like him first time round. When he could (apparently) have chosen a club at a higher level, it seems strange to me that he’s chosen to go to a 3rd Division team whose record on paying players is patchy of late.
It sounds like one of their other FBs is wanted by Forest which might open it up for us to get Gabriel, a FB with much more potential than Jack Hunt.

Well we just signed a 34 year old defender and so maybe we're changing tact. Does make you wonder why we didn't fight more for Turton.

I reckon we might have been caught out a bit on Turton. Probably assumed we'd be able to keep him around if we wanted but he got another offer. Our valuation of him will have been reflected in this, not the end of the world if he goes and so he did. Critch has brought in a replacement he likes and is now apparently targeting Gabriel.
