Injury update from Critchley

Should be walking the league
Bolton are blessed with a strong squad to tbf and Portsmouth look to be gelling like never before. Oxford have a very strong first XI but I’m not convinced there’s a club in this league that would be performing so well with so many key men out. What’s more with Critchley I still think we’ll only improve. I didn’t even include Dale.

Also noticeable this time around (JR aside) is the less heavy reliance on loanees.

Oxford have spent a bit but rely on a lot of young players. I also doubt their squad depth given they've blown 20% of their budget on 1 player.

Bolton are a decent team and squad but are susceptible to a run of bad results. Expectations are high, 3 or 4 without a win and they'll start wanting Evatt out again.

Derby have a decent squad but their fans aren't happy with Warne.

Portsmouth have put a very good squad together under a promising young coach. They definitely have their tails up and will be difficult to catch.

Barnsley and Peterborough are similar, good on their day but I doubt have the capability to get into the top 2. Will most likely be in the play offs though.

Ourselves are a work in progress, the next 2 games are massive. Win those and we can rotate against Bromley and look forward to a mouth watering game at the Toughsh1t Stadium.

Extract from gerzette.
Hubby (James Husband) is fine and has been training,” explained the boss ahead of the Posh’s visit to Bloomfield Road.
“He’s someone who had played every minute of every game in the league before Tuesday.
“Ollie (Norburn) did a bit of work on the grass today, a bit of physical and ball work- he’s obviously desperate to be included.
"We’ll give him as long as possible.
"He’s still in a little bit of discomfort and sleeping isn’t easy for him, but he’s improved, so we’re hopeful he will be involved.
"He doesn’t like not playing- you can tell that.
"He was desperate to play against Oxford last week. He sees himself as the captain and the leader, and he wants the responsibility of bringing his presence to the team.
"We have to do the right thing for him.

From above, Hubby available and Norburn assess later.

Yeah based on that Norburn will be touch and go. Doesn’t sound great it he’s struggling to sleep due to the discomfort.

Fingers crossed he will be fine for Saturday playing against his old club, he will be right up for it.

Good news for Hubby.

Love to know who your insider is. 😂 so for clarity, was our budget £60k a week across the whole squad or just new arrivals (assuming Brannagan is on £12k)?

Tbf. They’ve a point. Who’s getting the goals?
Maybe put a cheeky offer in for Clarke Harris in Jan and send Beesley on loan to L2 and get regular football.
This site would go into meltdown if Rhodes and Clarke Harris were options up front

When you think we took a win last night without Ekpiketa, Husband, Gabriel, Lyons, Norburn, Virtue and Joseph…

All of those players should get into every other League 1 first XI.

The strength in depth is real.
Might get into other L1 sides - they wouldn’t get into the Pompey team at the Mo - like others in out first team they have to fight every inch for their shirt

Pompey ain't all that. They were supposedly walking the League last time we played them and we won at their place.

It was a generalisation and a bit of a dig at paying a player, who has never made it outside of the bottom 2 leagues, so much money. You did recruit quite heavily in the summer, even though you couldn't afford Joseph. Looking at your squad it does include a lot of young players. The point I was making is that I don't think you'll finish top 2, I suspect you'll fall away. You were poor against us and lucky to get a point on the balance of chances and with the assistance of another inept ref. I think that covers it. 😂

But there seems to be a lot of hearsay. You don’t know our budget or whether we could afford Joseph. Yet make these typical comments as if you do. Personally don’t think Joseph is worth anywhere near a million and neither does the club. He could be, but not now.

Brannagan is still rated as the top performer in the league, so paying him above average is perhaps justified?

We were poor against you, i agree. But with injuries and sickness across the squad i’ll take that.

Our squad includes a lot of young players? I’m not sure how that’s an issue, are you Alan Hansen? 😂

Definitely not Alan Hansen. 😂

You've had a great start, maybe my angst against Oxford is due to the memories of '96, Joey Beauchamp and living far too close to some of your fans that don't really have a grasp of reality. There is no doubt you will be a very competitive team under an impressive manager/head coach. The young side will mean you lack consistency and I suspect when the season really starts in February, the wheat will separate from the chaff.

Tomorrow is a massive game for Blackpool, win that and we will be hunting those top 2 places down. It's far easier to chase than it is to lead. 😉
