If you were Simon now

He’s not gonna pay out another wedge to sack another manager who he seems to adore. We don’t own the club but seem to keep saying sack the manager when we lose a few or play wrong systems for the players we have etc.
Get used to critch and his ways cos I don’t think he’s going anywhere soon.

Sadler would have to take notice if the crowds dropped significantly, which they could well do if things carry on the way they are.

Depends what’s in NCs contract but if l was SS l would have made sure that the financial penalties are kept to a minimum based on timescales given the fact he left at such short notice last time with a long term contract.

It’s alright throwing all these names out for manager and assistant etc but di their footballing philosophy’s align ?

Dobbie and Bowyer ? Not sure . Do they even know each other ?

Also why would they want to share the no1 role ?

No one in the whole of football seems to want to apart from the Cowley brothers .

He won't be looking elsewhere, daft post really. If we are bottom half after Christmas Sadler will be concerned, not now.

It’s really easy and cheap:
Dobbie & Bowyer. Maybe shared role
That could just be the formula for the best chance of success for our great club.
Stephen Dobbie has got a real hunger to be a great manager and at the same time has a very special relationship with the Pool.
Bowyer has a wealth of experience in the lower leagues and is a very well respected individual.
I would certainly get behind this and I am sure the fans would be patient if this was to happen.

Would they bollocks it would be exactly the same lose a few games and people would be crying for them to be sacked as usual

Exactly right. If Dobbie had this start, there would be loads saying we should’ve gone for experience & be moaning like fook. I’m sure people much prefer moaning not just about football but in general life.

Granted, playing players in their actual positions would help so far but it’s 6 games in FFS. We’ve lost our best striker and it’s a relegation hangover for many alongside average-poor recruitment.

Another 10 games to get a fairer judgement surely… that hopefully gives time for Dembele to get going and Joseph on the pitch. That’s when we’ll know 💯

I find the whole over-reaction to the over-reaction almost as boring as the over-reaction itself in regard to "ungrateful fans".

Fact is we've gone from a club in the championship competing with the likes of Fulham, Bournemouth, Sheffield U to being back where we started within the space of 18 months.

There is a balance between "as bad as the Oystons" and "ungrateful, ingrates".

Any club of our stature (call me blinkered but I put us with PNE, Blackburn, Millwall more so than Wycombe, Exeter etc) would be asking questions in our current situation.

The managerial appointments, the "little Blackpool" talk (when we are currently averaging over 10k in league one, something that the three clubs I mentioned above failed to do last time they were down here), the absurd statement about "remember Forest away when we had 3 players!" to deflect criticism.

There are valid questions to be asked about the last 18 months and fans who do so in a balanced manner are not "ungrateful" in my opinion.

Anyway, a professionally run club with aspirations of cementing themselves in the top 2 divisions should already have some idea of a Critchley replacement even if things were going better than they are, but if the last 18 months are anything to go by I doubt we do.

Graham potter is not going zchelsea to Blackpool. More likely end up at Everton. Old head/new head is a sound idea and Bowyer/Dobbie has merit. That said it’s in everyone’s best interests if the current set up comes good. The problem is I think in his heart of hearts Critchley knows he’s a coach not a manager.

The wording around Dobbie when NC was announced suggested to me that he had been offered a role in NC's team but had opted to go back to the kids.
As an alternative, a different no2 may provide a cheaper, more practical solution to support NC.
Every time Thommo commentated on us last season he identified the issues in games and offered solutions. He is currently temp manager at Oldham but as Calderwood, McCall have previously shown us a good no2 is worth their weight in gold.

IHe can't do right for doing wrong. He's throwing good money after bad. Shall I go on?

Knobheads giving him grief on some poxy message board
Maybe because people spend hours of their life. Thousands of pounds per season.

And turn up on Saturday to watch that utter shit. I saw players on Saturday who didn’t give 100%. Who severely LACK quality at this level.

And we have been told we have a top six budget? That sits on the manager and owner.

Nah… it’s got more to do with the Internet Culture, where everyone likes to create their own little slice of drama.

Most people realise that things can take time in football. The issue is that a few very loud people get their voices amplified these days.

They’re the sort of people who would have been given a wide berth in the past.

Would rather of had Bowyer than Critchley, said so at the time, but in answer to the original question I would sit tight, have faith in my decision, hold my nerve and hope it clicks like it did first time around! I’m sure that I would have to call him to my office and would ask him to explain to me his logic of playing CJ & Connelly in the formation that he does!
NC will be given at least half a season to prove himself, unless things get really bad, we go on a prolonged losing run and find ourselves at the bottom😖

Far too early to be talking about replacements as Critch needs time, at least 15 games I'd say, but...

I'd be giving Dobbie the interim spell and see how he does, but otherwise I'd look at young upcoming managers like...

Mike Williamson at Gateshead whose implementing a really good brand of football,

Brian Barry-Murphy whose currently managing the Manchester City elite development squad and did a fantastic job at Rochdale on a very limited budget,

Ian Foster who won the England U19 Euros last year and is currently assisting Gerrard in Saudi,

Luke Williams whose doing an amazing job at Notts County, but I'm not entirely sure he leaves Notts who are certainly on the up,

I want young and exciting, rather than bringing in these old names that don't play a very fun brand of football!

I would be calling NC to say I have no intention of sacking you either this season or next, regardless of results. Period. This constant short termism has to stop - it's madness.

Well it wont be Mickey Mellon for sure; bad blood there.
Not Mellon for me either. I went into the Shovels (Common Edge) one day for a pint and as I stopped by his table to look around for somewhere to sit, he said to me, "look after my pint" then walked out. Sod that, I moved away from his table.
