If we was to have a bad start

I agree lads , I think some fans just expect us to go up but there is at least 12 other teams that will think the same . I’m really positive about next season I thjnk if the results don’t come straight away they will eventually.

He'll get a season plus even if things go badly. They won't get rid of him, they'll just appoint some experience to work alongside.

It's a good question.
For me we have to see some progress on what we saw last season. I appreciate that that can take time, but certainly for what we've invested in I don't want us to be in a relegation battle of any sorts.

I had always seen this next season ss a transition one, with so many changes and uncertainties both at the club and across the game I just want to see improvement in positionnand style of play as a minimum

Unfortunately there’s a portion of our fan base that are very spoilt and feel as though they’re owed the world because of what we’ve been through the past few years, plus the fact that up until 2014 the younger fan base had seen nothing but success. I think some of these would turn after a few games if the performances aren’t good (the team was booed off at half time in Critchleys first home game remember). I’d hope many would see sense that league 1 is a very difficult league to get out of, bigger clubs than us have taken a few years (Sheffield Utd and Wednesday, Pompey). I’d like to think if the type of football is attractive and the players give 100% many will support Critchley regardless of results.

I am feeling quite positive about performance this season, so cannot contemplate any change of leadership at present, more worried about the start followed by a club stricken with the dreaded virus causing a pause in operations.
Certainly the planning that has taken place in getting a squad together has been a welcome change, I just honestly believe he will do a good job and wish him and the squad all the very best playing some entertaining football along the way.
Not expecting a miracle to happen but as I said, I feel positive about our future.

I think unless it's a complete disaster (i.e. we're rock bottom, players are in revolution, Critch has had a punch up with the fans and we've got Anthony Evans back on loan as a solution) we've just got to roll with it for 18 months and see where we are then. I don't see how overall we can be in a worse position. Even if we're crap still overall, then surely one of the new lads will have done the business and be worth a good few quid.

We're a year behind on the Sadler grand plan because last year was a complete disaster in terms of structural rebuilding on the playing side. No point raking over it, but Larry and McPhillips didn't really sign anyone for the future beyond Sullay and I also think, relatively speaking, yes we have made some decent signings, but let's get it in perspective - none of them are nailed on successes - none of them are in the bracket of a Tony Ellis (i.e. a completely proven player who excelled at the same level already)

That's not denigrating any of those players. I'm buzzing to see them, I think they are exactly the right kind of players, hungry, battle hardened enough and ready for the step up to the next level - just imo, it may take time.

Every successful manager aside from Ollie I've known at Pool took time to turn the ship (I'm too young for the start of Billy Ayre) - Fat Sam's first season was really mediocre, Macca took us down to go up, Larry took ages to get us going on the perfect ten form. Critch has less experience than any of them (even Fat Sam had done more games as caretaker than Critch when he took over)

I despise the 'sack the manager' as a fix to everything culture. Who knows how many decent teams fans have been robbed of seeing because they were a few months from gelling, maturing, one player away from it clicking, a backroom staff member away from it all making sense and owners got panicky and pulled the trigger, ripped it all up and started again.

6 or so weeks ought to be an indication of the style of play, no crowds may be a bonus while the players settle in without any distractions. Doubt there will be any knee jerk reactions. Plan is not the garnered from the pages of "How to Run a Football Club Week to Week"

Season and a half minimum. Easy to say now but I’m more bothered about how we play. Even wins against Bristol Rovers and Oxford early last season, it papered over the cracks.

We were a one trick pony. Give it to Feeney and cross it into Gnando. Critchley might have drawn at Fleetwood and lost against Tranmere but there were signs of the football we were trying to play, and I’d rather be entertained and lose a couple than hoof our way to the play offs

Will support the team as long as it takes ,it will take time to gel and get used to whatever system critch is going to play ,also some of the young players might take a bit longer to get into the speed of thegames . Utmp

We all know the reality is that if we are struggling by Christmas people will be losing patience. It's the nature of the game.

And if he does do well we might also struggle to keep him here for long.

A tad gloomy this thread. Haven't Sadler and Mansford spoken publically about 'the Blackpool way'? I don't think that involves a 50 pass build up or parking the bus. I think Critchley will have discussed that at interview and the fact that he's here suggests that 'the Blackpool way' is going to suit him fine.
In any case, you don't bring in a whippet on the left wing simply so that he can be first to get the kettle on after training.

Ye suppose it is but I’m interested to no how quick people will be getting on his back . Hope it doesn’t come to that but worth asking

The advantage every manager will have this season is that I doubt by Christmas grounds will be even 25% full. Other than dissenting message boards, which I doubt they read, I think managers and players will get an easy ride for much of this season.

I don't think any of us quite realise what a basket case this club was, it'll take years to sort and I believe the manager is part of that long term process or he wouldn't have taken the job. Grayson wasn't sacked on results but ethos.

Patience is needed.

Great quote Lytham_fy8. With a conveyor belt of virus's sweeping the country each year, each one getting deadlier, patience will be needed. Football may continue if the EFL are still around.
