I remember when Steven Dobbie & DJ Campbell were signed on loan from divisional 'rivals'

Who was the guy we loaned out from Plymouth during 09/10 season.
Strangely he was allowed to play against his club the following week and scored!

Probably the most sensible post I have read this morning!

I thought it was among the most stupid to be honest.

I thought that most Blackpool supporters felt that our success under the Oyston's was in spite of their lack of investment/ambition and not because of it ?

I don't think that the Oystons investment/ambition were what he was referring to, more to what they, Dobbie and DJ brought to the team. I'm sure most fans would be happy if any of our recent signings turned out the same as the aforementioned.

I know perfectly well that he was not referring to Oyston investment.

It was me who referred to a lack of investment under the Oyston's and the acquisition of players on the cheap and how we were successful in spite of a lack of investment/ambition and not because of it.

I am sure some will point to the need to have players who are hungry how we can benefit from the fact that they have something to prove and I would agree with that to an extent but for Koko it was just an excuse - some could say bi product ? - for a lack of investment.

I appreciate that it might not be easy to improve our squad as required during the window and that Critchley might be satisfied with the squad.

I'm taking the view that those who have left were frankly nowhere near a regular starting spot and in some cases, nowhere near a 7 man bench.

By comparison, I'd expect Simms and Stewart to be pushing for a starter's place, and Embleton an unknown quantity, so I'll reserve judgement on him.

As such, the window has cleared out those who weren't adding anything and made way for additional strength in depth.

This season isn't over by a long stretch.

If we’d signed a player of the same age from a Premier League or Championship club who had the exact same profile as Embleton and had played the same number of games in League 1 this season on loan then we’d all probably be quite impressed. It does worry me his parent club don’t think he’s good enough for them at this moment in time but that being said, it’s horses for courses and he may well suit our style of football more than Sunderlands. He’s got a good pedigree, likes to shoot at goal (god knows we need that!) and I’m more than happy to give the lad a chance.
It’s just a shame that if he does do well there’s almost no chance of him being with us again next year on loan or on a permanent.

I seem to remember Seip being at loggerheads with Plymouth for some reason. He was deemed good enough though.

DJ had an attitude problem allegedly.

Puncheon had fallen out with everyone at Southampton but was thought of as a good player.

Seems we had an eye for a good player who's faces just didn't fit at their parent club.
