I enjoyed that.

I couldn't stomach our match against Cambridge today even if we were to get the 3 points, so I visited a my second team Bradford Park Avenue who simply had to win to have any chance of avoiding relegation. Basford are just above the relegation zone and are the only team that can be caught .
Avenue miraculously won 2-1 in a match that was played like a cup tie from the 1st minute to the last.Jake Daniel's came on as a sub but never got into the game, whereas the other sub was James Hanson (remember him) who gave the Basford defence something to think about.
Anyway I was very surprised at the quality of both sides and started to compare some of the players on both sides.
The Bradford keeper Ellison a loan player only playing his second game.
He saved shots that were going into the top corner, he came for everything as the crosses rained in on the Bradford goal.
I don't know who his parent club is but we should be looking at this lad.
I have to admit though that Basford had 5 or 6 players that looked absolute class and were really fired up.
On any other day this could have been
Avenue 2 Basford 6
What an afternoon's entertainment.
What a change!
Sorry for the long post. (Still buzzing)
I had almost forgotten this feeling.

A BPA thread on a Blackpool board, give your head a wobble!

Were any of you lot around when Worthington or Hendry were in charge under Oyston ownership.
Top 8 finish was a dream then.
Some folk have short memories.
The simple fact of the matter is not how bad the team used to be, it's how bad the performances are NOW.
To try and put things into perspective, in the Worthington and Hendry eras crowds were lower, budgets were non existent and standards were extremely lower.
In the past 3 years EVERYTHING has improved at Bloomfield Rd except the standard of managing of the 1st team.

If you're happy with that your expectations and standards can't be that high or is expecting your team to perform well just being 'entitled ' 🤦

Whatever the excuse, people are sacking it off and this will be even more apparent next season.

Let's keep positive though.

You should have planned your day in the Lakes next Saturday.
Hopefully better Weather and drop the wife and kids off in Keswick whilst you pop up to Carlisle.

If there was any enthusiasm those are the type of things would normally look out for. Going to watch a Critchley team really is the last option at the moment. I'd have to be completely stuck with nothing else to do.

2024...It's a bit boring, can't be arsed, off to watch another team instead..

A bit? Really?🤣🤣🤣

Oh sorry beating top of the table 0-4 away and beating 3rd in the table 4-1 at home top trumps all the derge served up at the majority of away matches.
Let's not forget all those shite performances at home that have been swept under the carpet too.

Lytham you're more than happy with the situation fill your boots, I'm not👍🏻

You're not really putting your case forward very strongly here.

Also, why do people feel the need to advertise the fact that they're glory hunting fair weather fans?

Maybe people are just a bit sick of watching us at the moment

I get it, I've been to hardly any games myself probably my worst ever in terms of number of matches attended

The writing was on the wall last season and the general malaise has just continued

It is weird right now, people sacking it off doesn't help though...

Phil, you've obviously got it all wrong.
No matter how shit the performances, no matter how baffling the tactics and systems you've just got to blindly go and support the lads.
If you want to be entertained and see a bit of effort you're either entitled or a glory hunter.
I'm at the club shop 1st thing tomorrow for a ST👍🏻

When I was younger I used to laugh at my old Dad when he said that he'd close the curtains if his team were playing in the front garden.
I now understand what he meant🤷

Maybe I am bonkers but if my team are playing I want to watch or listen to my team.
I cannot watch another game whilst my team are playing.
I know we are all different but come on!
It is over a 200 mile round trip for a home game and I have witnessed that many woeful displays that I was questioning my own sanity, nevermind if I was a jinx.
That m62 is a dangerous motorway at the best of times and I definitely didn't fancy it yesterday.

Results matter more than performances from now until the end. If we eek to 6th spot with the rest of the games as painful as that… what we sayin? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I know that and maybe if i lived in Blackpool i would have made more of an effort

But when it takes you a whole ** day to travel to watch what we are being served up you can't blame me for not being arsed
There are an awful lot of critical posters on here who don't understand the difficulties and frustrations faced by those exiles who travel to games, critics who probably didn't attend any of the cup games because they couldn't be arsed, it was too expensive or many other such excuses. Critics who wouldn't be arsed travelling week in week out to see their team.

I totally agree with Phil, and well done OP for attending a Bradford Park Avenue game. I find nothing wrong in exiles going to see minor league teams particularly when travelling too and from a game takes more of the day up than the actual match itself.

Nah, not at all, but ST holders missing it is just odd.

Except the suggestion is he would have attended except the football is too dull, not that it was too much trouble to attend. That's the difference.

To be honest, I went to watch Queen of the South this year and it was even worse than us so there's that. I enjoyed it though.

  • Haha
Reactions: no9
I've always wanted to see BPA play hopefully will one day.
Did a lad called Jack Lewis play for Basford? He is on loan from Leicester and is a Thornton lad.

So why travel for hours to watch your team when they are supplying dull football? How many games have you travelled to?

Half a dozen, not many, but I wouldn't have gone to any more regardless of the football we were playing.

If people can't, don't want to, whatever, then that's their choice but advertising it as some kind of protest is utter bollocks.

Tell that to the supporters that booed the win.

Personally, if they win every game but churn out dross like that 2nd half yesterday (and many prior) they ain't going to get my backside on any seat.

Nah, not at all, but ST holders missing it is just odd.
Is it odd, why?

Many like me buy multiple ST’s in the knowledge they can’t get to every home game. People miss games for plenty of good reasons, but right now, a large number of ST holders can’t stomach the style of play. I missed Wycombe but we attended yesterday, and it was poor, beyond poor second half, against a shockingly bad Cambridge. Was it worth the journey, no.

As @Phil_bfc deux says, it’s an easier call for those living locally.

It is easier I agree, don't blame anyone not travelling really.

2015...I can't believe it's come to this, having to boycott, might never watch my club again..

2019...We're back! We've got our club back!

2024...It's a bit boring, can't be arsed, off to watch another team instead...
2026...Neil Critchley gets the sack!

2027...Blackpool relagated to League Two.

2029... Sadler re-appoints Critch!

2030...Blackpool have a bang average Season in League Two finishing 14th.

3 seasons ago we got promoted to the championship… with critch. He left, we went into freefall, now his first season back and we may still make top 6. I’m sure people only come on here when they’re pissed up 😂

If by some miracle Critchley managed to get this side into the play offs, the way we have been playing then you could say the end justifies the means.
But i personally think the entire playing side under Critchley is far too negative, and if it's the players (fault) as he keeps telling us ie lack of quality blah blah then just when does he start to think it could be his fault with the tactics/ team selections/ subs.
If we continue with the same boring tactics ( passing from one defender to another and then back to the keeper and continue to be so slow in possession then I am NOT looking forward to next season.
I actually think a new manager could get this team playing a lot better than we are currently seeing, even if we do need a few additions.
