Heckingbottom praise and criticism

There's been a fair bit of criticism of Paul Heckingbottom recently on this board, and at first glance he doesn't seem like the most inspiring of options.. but why don't we take a new approach and try and compile a list of pros and cons of him becoming our new "head coach" (as the club are putting it now)

So we've seen Mansford's praise in the new interview, about how Heckingbottom went from U18 to U23 coach at Barnsley, before moving up to the first team for two spells as caretaker manager where he helped guide the club to an EFL trophy win and promotion to the Championship in 2016. Barnsley had a good start the following season, but ultimately finished in the bottom half at 14th.

Since leaving Barnsley however Heckingbottom has been sacked twice (Leeds, Hibs). His managerial record currently stands P156, W54, D44, L58.

Mansford also said that the club are looking for someone who wants to play attacking football. Can anyone find any good info on how Heckingbottom's teams have played?

There's been a lot of criticism of Heckingbottom on here recently, and he on the surface doesn't seem like the most inspiring of candidates. The intention of this thread is to compile a list of pros and cons of him becoming new head coach in a rational and fair manner

P156, W54, D44, L58. Not quite the stats to swing it for me as they are on the 'tepid' side I'm afraid and would think there are more inspring candidates out there to tickle my fancy but I'm no expert, I'll leave it to others with football management experience.

A bang average record speaks for itself.

I get the feeling towards the end the Barnsley fans weren't happy with him - one comment off a forum which was full of negativity towards him "I'm glad he did leave. I was fed up of the negative sideways backwards football we started to adopt just before he departed."
