Grealish & Villa Fans

Seen a few Villa fans burning their Grealish shirts online and giving him tons of shit on social media. If we had a local lad in a similar situation do you think you’d react the same (maybe not as dramatic) or would you be happy for them for progressing their career?

Really surprised by the Villa reaction I've seen. There are maybe 2 or 3 teams in the league that don't routinely lose their best players to better teams with more money and a better chance of winning things. I have no idea why Aston Villa fans thought they were any different.

I stopped being affronted by players leaving back when I was a kid FFS.

He stuck by them when he could have left a few seasons ago, he has been their talisman for a return to the top flight and the top half of the Prem. Ultimately players careers are short, he now has a chance of winning major honours and showing what he can do in the Champions League. If he delivers then he'll also be a key player for England.

He's also brought in £100M to his club which will probably allow them to strengthen the team as a whole.

Sunderland let Henderson and Pickford go their fans are proud for what both have achieved in the game.

We never kicked off when Charlie went to Liverpool sometimes you have to realise that a club is either higher up the pyramid or has more money at the moment in time at any club.

I would be disappointed but wish him well. They can hardly complain when he is going to a club that will win things and play in Europe, which Villa will not do. Also Villa get a whacking £100m, which is a big profit and far more than Grealish is actually worth

No problem when a player leaves to further their career.

I was irritated when Richie Wellens left us for Oldham and when Megson left us for Stockport because neither of those fit my criteria of futhering your career.

On the plus side, Wellens hilariously ended up in the Leicester side that fucked up the Semi in 2010.

I'd be embarrassed for my fellow fans if I were a Villa fan, they're showing a total lack of class. Not to mention they're being delusion if they think they're on a level playing field with Man City. Five times Premier league champions, and reigning champions, vs a club that were playing in the championship two years ago. Hmm difficult choice that.

Probably not on a level playing field with Man City now (then again who is?) But its fair to say that Villa are still one of the biggest clubs in English football.
Won all of football's biggest honours multiple times and have something that City can only dream about at the moment.

Football fans are blinkered, the Villa fans are hurting that their son has left for pastures new when they all thought he'd stay there forever.
How many times do we question a players loyalty?

This episode has shown that there is non, it's a job to the players and a business to the clubs.

Yes they're historically a big club, but long term history means very little really. It's about a clubs stature in the here and now, and there is no comparison at all between Villa's ability to win silverware and Man City's ability to win silverware. A player's career is very short and if Grealish wants to win things in the few years he's at the top of his game, he's made the right decision 100%.
Also, how many times do fans say that we need to get rid of the 'dead wood'? It amazes me how fans demand loyalty but never show it themselves. A manager for example can work wonders but then a run of just a few defeats and the calls will start to get rid. Players are under no obligation whatsoever to be loyal to any club, who are only their employers after all. Nor should they be.

Harry Kane looking on must wonder what’s going on…grealish untried at international or champions league level…100 million…? 😁🤣

Lump on Villa to get relegated. They were bore draw merchants in the Prem for years till Grealish came along and added some long overdue flair. Shame Southgate does’nt start him every international.

Wellens didn't have that much say as he was the makeweight in getting in Scott Vernon. Great piece of business from Hendry.

Scott Vernon was a clinical finisher when he got into a position to score. Unfortunately his positional sense was not as good as his finishing.

Totally disagree.
Think they will be mid table at least.
Good academy and a good manager and a decent enough squad to survive without to many issues.

Id be surprised if they struggled. They've added Buendia from Norwich and Danny Ings.
also chasing James Ward Prowse. Probably top half. The manager is very likeable as well and has built a decent squad.

I’d be pissed off but understand the situation as I would if Jerry signed for someone else for 10 million, as long as a decent amount was spent from the profits obviously
