Winning games is normally how it works. He’s a proper guy
Will never know how he got us promoted
Yes, a fact that should not be lost on any Blackpool fan. During a dark time for the club, he ensured we were a L1 club when new owners came in, when we could quite easily have been battling with the likes of Wrexham, Notts County, etc.Yep he was the master of survival football against huge odds . We were pretty much favourites to drop to non league instead of which he got us promoted. Who knows where we would have been I'd we hadn't got lucky with Gary Bowyer .
Seems like a decent guy with great football knowledge and a good sense of humour too
You don’t half rewrite history. Our squad that season was the best in the league by a distance. Potts Cullen Robertson etc blimey Gnanduillet could never even make the team, and you crack on it was a miraculous achievement to finish seventhYep he was the master of survival football against huge odds . I thought that he did a Sterling job in every department at a time when it was a very difficult job indeed. The only manager during the dark times that I had any respect for.Gary Bowyer signed most of the quality in that squad ...that's why it was one of the best in the league . Daniels , Vassel, Jamille Matt , Gnanduillet, Pugh , Danns ,etc . So he made the history ..I'm not rewriting it .
We were in total free fall before he got the job .
Yep. You also got the feeling he understood why the fans had to stay away and he just got on with the job without being an Oyston mouth piece like that prat McDonald.I thought that he did a Sterling job in every department at a time when it was a very difficult job indeed. well documented that he wanted more money to compete in the higher division. They thought he should’ve won the league by moreOn 10 May 2023, Bowyer was named as the SPFL Scottish Championship Manager of the Year.[53] Later that day, Bowyer departed Dundee as manager, alongside assistant Billy Barr
Wonder what went on there then?!
There’s still footage of it on YouTube somewhere. That night at Luton . Astonishing !
Maybe he could be a guest speaker at the club or Armfield.I let him know the great feedback on his commentary. He said he really enjoyed himself
Get him on the preview show!!Maybe he could be a guest speaker at the club or Armfield.
He is generally well thought of and did the best he could for the club, not the Oystons
Yeah but back then no one give a shit if you bailed. So he bailed out a week before the season started leaving us massively in trouble yet people speak about him fondly. Bizarre double standards at play.
But the praise is because he supposedly steadied the ship, despite us having best squad in league 2, and got us out of League 2 so obviously people did give a shit.Yeah but back then no one give a shit if you bailed.
I remember he walked right over before the game to make a point of applauding us. Didn’t got down too well with a couple of the Bradford fans that I know….The reception our fans gave him when we played his Bradford side at Valley Parade in 2019 shows how much we appreciated his work.
And he was very positive towards us. We then went on to win 4-1
Working under the Oystons, in the middle of NAPM, I think there are many who might consider that a reasonable excuse. So he bailed out a week before the season started leaving us massively in trouble yet people speak about him fondly. Bizarre double standards at play.
He was having to fork out his own money to pay for training pitches ffs. You can hardly blame him for wanting away from the odious ones, can you?!So he bailed out a week before the season started leaving us massively in trouble yet people speak about him fondly. Bizarre double standards at play.
it's so much better to hear the likes of GB and Thommo on co-comms. proper insight that only comes with a lifetime of tactical nous. i like his dry style too.I let him know the great feedback on his commentary. He said he really enjoyed himself
Ok fair enough I just don’t think fans were as emotionally attached as what they are now and didn’t take it as personally. But the praise is because he supposedly steadied the ship, despite us having best squad in league 2, and got us out of League 2 so obviously people did give a shit.
Have duly reported this comment . I have reported you for being a thoroughly miserable gitSo he bailed out a week before the season started leaving us massively in trouble yet people speak about him fondly. Bizarre double standards at play.
