First night out since lockdown.......

.....and to say the least I’m not impressed with this new normal. Started in The Dunes and got told off as soon as we walked in the door for walking one foot past the welcome line. Stayed and had a couple of beers then went to the Farmers, Winstons and The Highfield where we felt as welcome as a sausage butty at a Jewish wedding 😂 Oh well, at least we were out without the kids for a few hours 😀

Go to the Wainwright on Hornby Road. The Landlord is superb; he spent the whole of lockdown refurbing the place. It's big so no problem with social distancing and the drinks are very reasonable. Brilliant family run club 👍

Went out for the standard bank holiday pub crawl , started at velvet coaster at 12 . Cued till 12.20. Then tried every pub from velvet coaster to the Albert and couldn’t get in till the Albert . Then next pub was the castle absolutely shit

I've still not ventured - can't be bothered with the ' table booking ' etc

Same. I cannot fathom going out and paying good money to stay between lines, book in advance and be served by someone wearing a face screen or mask.

On the plus side we've really enjoyed new recipes and cooking fresh food every day at home.

Didn’t book any in advance, just took a chance and thought would go elsewhere if not allowed in. On the plus side we walked home past the Con Club on Common Edge and had a couple whilst watching a live singer. Music was a lot lower in volume than previous but he wasn’t bad at all 👍🏼

First time we've all been out as a group - eight of us - since March. Didn't go too well. Our advance party gave the Cabin a thumbs down so we ended up at the Highlands. Couldn't get a table inside so were stuck outside for over an hour until the table outside but under the verandah came free where it was a bit warmer. Plastic glasses but at least they had decent ales on. Problem with round there is there's not much choice of pubs within walking distance. Didn't fancy Bispham Hotel for a variety of reasons.
In these times it shows how important decent weather is a must!

Yesterday was at wethers in lytham with no issues. Also since relaxation did a prom run, coaster, Dutton, pier bar, family bar (we were in the back room but the family bar was rammed),lifeboat and what was pump and truncheon, it was good weather so outside for a few.
Also done ale house and saddle. Although odd at times been good to meet up with mates and get back to some normality..ish

The weather does make a massive difference.

Last Saturday we had a 6 person table booked at 8.30 at the Station in Lytham. A couple of us were free a couple of hours earlier so we wandered down just as it the heavens opened. Spoons was full, Queens was full, County was full, Taps was full. Basically everyone who was sat outside raced inside and so all the tables were taken. Ended up sitting at 2 separate tables for 1 in the Ship until half 8.

Nights out are going to have to be planned out in advance for the foreseeable.

I’ve not booked anywhere and been in several. There’s a vast difference between operations though, some abide by the rules, you have to give details for track & trace either written or scanning a barcode. Wetherspoons though is very lax, hardly anyone bothers with track and trace, staff don’t wear masks and customers overflow from their table next to yours. I’m giving spoons a miss from now on

You're right TAM its a right pain in the arse, me and the missus are off out in PLF tonight, just getting a table in a pub is harder than getting a reservation in a top restaurant in Cheltenham on Gold Cup day. 😫

Got to agree with 20s regarding the weather. Think my outings in future will be earlier in the day, unless we have a table booked for a meal, and definitely in better weather 👍🏼

Yep the weather is very important. Been out a couple of times when it was very hot and spent most of our time in beer gardens, apart from one pub when we had to go indoors as there were no tables. Not sure what it’ll be like come winter.

Most pubs managed the situation very well with table service, or order at the bar and collect a few yards away or they’ll bring the drinks to you. Others less so (well one) with an officious receptionist demanding to know whether we had a prior booking, order by app or via the website and then wait 10 minutes before your drinks are left at a collection point. I thought IT was meant to make life easier. Not surprisingly we only had one pint there.

We never knew we had it so good in the olden days! “Wot grandad? You mean you could just go to the bar; order a drink and sit down?! Well that’s just bonkers!!”
