Other than Richard Walker, I remember Paul Stewart playing for Tottenham scoring a great header from the near the penalty spot. I think it was against the scousers, probably got him the move.

For actually being at matches, Richard Walker scored the best header, especially that he started the move off from the halfway line, then bulleted the header from the edge of the area to win 1-0 in the 94th minute.
Mickey Burns scored two identical ones, the first being away at Swindon which was the equaliser in our 1-1 draw, the week before Big Fred's hat-trick at Dungdale. The other was of course the 3-2 last minute winner in the FA Cup v Arsenal.
Despite the numerous Ray Charnley headers, I remember watching from the Kop when Gordon Milne scored a diving header in the South goal from a corner.

Sat in the South Stand…..the reaction when that went in was amazing….😊

Coventry vs Spurs FA Cup Final in the 80's.
Think most neutrals wanted Coventry to win & I enjoyed Keith Houchens diving header.
Being allowed to stay up on a school night to watch the 1970 Cup Final replay. An even better diving header by Peter Osgood, Chelsea vs Leeds.

Richard Walker 🤬
Lived in London at the time before moving up here & was still squelching as I got out the car 4 hours later 🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️

For Blackpool
micky walsh v Fulham
other Kevin Keegan v Italy 77/78 not to sure of year
That Mickey Walsh header was a classic.
On MOTD, Best & Moore but no Rodney Marsh.
How dare I miss the Mickey Walsh 'towering' header out of my comments. It was in the same year as his 'BBC Goal of the season.' In both matches we were 2-0 up, then 2-2, before Mickey scored the winners.

My memory ain't what it used to be but donkey's years ago didn't we have someone (max something maybe??) stoop to head one in from about a yard right at ground level?

Howdy Keith owd lad!😜

Great goal-scoring headers by Ray Charnley were ten-a-penny (today that'd be ten-a-pound) when I was watching us back in the early 1960s.

Richard Walker's was un(bloody)believable, me and my lad were stood in the Scratching Shed exactly in-line with the edge of the penalty area and had the almost perfect view.

Aye, the whole ground erupted when the ball thudded into the back of th'onion bag.

Plymouth had made no effort to win the game or, indeed, to get forward at anytime and I don't think they had a shot in 90-odd minutes.

Their manager's tactics got their just reward, Paul Sturrock if I remember rightly?

I was there. I'd seen us beat Wrexham in the competition then Wolves and City. As an 8 year old I thought that we were just as good as teams in Division One. Then we played Arsenal......
Yep , we lost 5 1 but actually played pretty well. Tony Green scored a blinder. My other memory of that game was that Arthur Mullard was stood behind me. You may or may not remember him . Lugoubrious commedian.

For me it was definitely the Walker's injury time winner v Plymouth argyle, (See clip below) for 2 reasons really, the 1st being i was in the south paddock that day & it was mental when he scored that header in injury time.
But what made it all the sweeter for me was the fact Argyle obviously came for a draw & blatently time wasted for the whole of the game right from the kick off., their keeper was taking the piss big time throughout the game!
You can only imagine how pi@@ed off he/they were losing the game deep into injury time!

For importance Richard Walker's was up there because it kept the momentum going. However, hats off to super Brett for his diving header off Charlie's free-kick in the Bristol City game at the end of the season 2010.

Tommy White v Man City ..think it was League Cup ...around '74 ( I think ) ?
This gets my vote
South stand Tommy Hutch Cross to far post
Tom White climbed and smashed it in
I will always rambert the sound of his head hitting the ball and the way Hutch turned there full back inside out
Brilliant

Very hard to be specific about any particular goal but not to mention Ray Charnley on This thread would be a crime……….or dare I even add Stan Mortensen

Surely Fred Pickering’s brace against PNE 1970, sent us into ecstasy!
Pele’s header 1970 WC, the power he got into it was amazing.

Sorry if wrong, but are you Ray?

I was stood level with the penalty spot, also in the Scratching Shed. Without them two extra points, we wouldn't have managed to be in the playoffs.

Dj was the first to spring to mind but I'd say Evatt against Bolton away just for the angle and skill to get it in.

Kingsman scored a header on his prem debut which also sticks out so I'll go with that.
