(and until there's a goal for us or 80 mins on the clock, I'll still be shaking like a donkey!)

KARL Robinson insists Oxford United can make play-off history with an unprecedented turnaround against Blackpool.
The U’s are 3-0 down ahead of tomorrow’s semi-final second leg at Bloomfield Road after the Tangerines won comfortably at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday.
Nine teams have lost by three goals or more in the first leg of a Football League play-off since the competition began in 1986/87 and none made it through.
But with 90 minutes of football still to play, U’s head coach Robinson maintains his side are not completely out of the tie.
“It’s half-time, that’s all it is,” he said.

“I’ve seen it with my own eyes.
“Football’s an amazing sport, it produces moments that live in the mind forever.
“If we get through it’ll be the greatest achievement that this team has ever done.”
Robinson added: “They had the music on at the end of the game.
“I don’t find many teams putting music on at half-time.”
Robinson’s men trained at the Kassam Stadium yesterday and will be out on the pitches for a final session today, before travelling up to the north west later.
By then, the U's boss should know more about the fitness of Sam Winnall and Cameron Brannagan, who both went off with hamstring injuries on Tuesday.
Whether it is the final game of an energy-sapping 2020/21 season or not, Robinson is ready for one last effort.
He said: “I’m proud of what my players have done so far, it has been one big push, week-in, week-out.
“They’ve looked a bit fatigued at certain stages.
“Blackpool had two players that went off with injuries as well, but it’s a time of the season you get that.
“We’ll dust ourselves off and go again.”
Blackpool have now gone five matches without conceding, while they have scored five times against the U’s without reply in the three games between the sides this season.

"dust wissells"?

Reality is, he is right and that is why EVERYONE must take this game seriously.

Best 11 plays and if we are in a good position with 15-20 mins to go - then maybe make some changes.

There is no point in saving your best players for a game we might not make.

If they get an early goal then I will be behind the settee for the rest of the game!!!!!

If I was in their position I'd be doing all I could to needle us and get someone sent off.
Eleven v eleven I don't think they can can get three against us.

The music comment is pure mind games again by Robinson which failed the first time👎🏼it’s like a boxer facing someone superior to him knowing he can’t beat him using his own game so he’ll do and say everything he can leading up to the fight to rattle his opponent get in his head and try make him lose concentration before a punch is thrown.somebody probably put a bit of music on ffs he’s making it sound like music was blasting players celebrating ect ect when we all know that would not be tolerated, let him carry on.

Please, when starting ridiculous threads don’t use my username , I find it rather humiliating being tarred with the same brush as the fat James Corden .

Everyone knows what Liverpool did against AC Milan in Istanbul and at Anfield against Barcelona. I'm not counting any chickens. If ever a team will be fired up it must be Oxford for this one.

A few of us on here are still scarred for life after that infamous match in the '60's when we were 3-0 up at half time against Chelsea and we ended up losing 3-4.
If memory serves me correctly the 4 goals were scored in the last 25 minutes. (But I have been wrong before!) I went home mentally and psychologically drained!

Reading most of these posts I'm surprised there hasn't been a stampede to the bookies lumping on the angry crabs.

You lot support a team that haven't conceded a goal in nearly NINE hours and your worried the crabs will score 3 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

TBGE

You're right. Keith Weller came on and transformed the game..............I think.
I cried.

1970/71 season when we had been promoted for just one season back in the top flight. We took our striker off after leading 3-0! As others have said, make sure you have won the tie before subbing players. Ok with resting a player if he already has a knock or slight injury

You beat me to it, Pete, I was sitting in the South Stand (without a cushion) and there was a big fat Chelsea fan giving it hard and long all game being told to sit down and shut up. From memory it was a corner for their last goal and it went in of one of ours, can't honestly remember who. Les Shannon was manager and resigned after the game. Just to add the Chelsea fan was chinned after leaving the ground and I was well and truly heartbroken at the result not the chinning.

All this 'we must take it seriously', well of course they are, Critch is hardly going to tell them to relax it's all over.

Meanwhile though we can relax, because it's all over.

Thursday Fact

Les Shannon directed the football sequences in Escape to Victory.

Why shouldn't he it's not if it's half time (i.e 45 mins to play ),don't forget Doncaster!(90 minutes can be a long long time in football )(I remember Tranmere at Bloomfield road they were 3-0 up I think and cruising , if my memory serves me well ,did we not score three goals in the last 15/20 min and won 4-3?

Did he bottle it in that as well? 🤣

The similarity between the Chelsea game and the Bradford Game is that in both cases the managers were bottlers, who tried to defend, thought it was all over, but it wasn't. NC appears to have the correct attitude, and in him I trust.

I used to go on the old kop in those days and there were various scuffles that day. We just didn't strengthen our squad enough to stay up that season

Dave Hatton own goal.

Yes Tranmere lost but had scored all their goals at Prenton park (with David Eyres in goal!!) They didn't score at Bloomfield Rd
Likewise Liverpool scored all their goals at Anfield against Barcelona.
See the link?
They scored at home, away they couldn't hit a camels arse with a banjo.
Who seriously thinks that Oxford will win the tie WHO?
Weve got the best keeper in the division.
The defence is as watertight as a submarine.
Oxford have failed to score against Blackpool in the last four and a half hours, yet some unbelievably still think the angry crabs will get 3 in 90 minutes!!!!!

Spoke to Fred Pickering at an event a few years ago - he was still fuming!!

I only hope the players aren't as jittery as some of our fans on AVFTT.
The last thing we need are the nerves of these worried fans transcending onto the pitch.

We are 3-0 up FFS and havent conceded a goal in 5 games!

What would some of you be like, if we'd only drawn the 1st leg?

Dave Hatton own goal.

Dave Hatton was a great player.
Unfortunately his career was defined by that last minute own goal as he has constantly been reminded over the last 50 years. It's even mentioned on his wiki page!
I was on the same table as him for the Stanley Matthews Centenary dinner at the Club and it was mentioned a few times that night as well.
