Another lacklustre display. Too many areas of the pitch lacking quality. Big second half needed to keep the pressure off Southgate.

The one time he shouldn't have looked he did and stalled with his shot, the other times he needed to look and pick a pass he didn't look and wasted it.

How is he near the best we have....
 
Putting 6 past Iran was clearly a mistake. They score 2 nobody cared as we scored 6!

There's controlling games but there's winning games, no good us 'controlling' it to nil nils, it's far too safe and slow mostly.

Where's the aggression that these players play with in their teams?
 
Criticism of Southgate is justified but jeez, it's not his fault Rashford can't pass to a white shirt and that him and others can't put anything remotely like a decent cross into the box.
 
Rashford has been poor. Other than that, just too negative. No point having 80% possession if you do nothing with it.
 
One of these games we’ll actually get out of second gear. 🤷‍♂️

Yet again playing not to lose. Southgate won’t get the balance right behind defence and attack as he’s too frightened of losing instead of trying to win. With Wales playing compact with a low block it’s crying out for Grealish. Rashford’s touch is shocking…he needs to come on with 20 mins to go when the game is stretched.

Iran v USA is a better game, the movement from the US team is great, switch back to England and it looks so pedestrian, its alway such a bore fest, they may win but they will never get you off the edge of your seat.

We've had a few good moments, most of it has been ponderous passing around the back.

Wales are effectively a really poor side and we can't score against them yet, or create many chances.

Controlling isn't enough, have to make the dominance count.

It would great if we were playing a bit better and scoring for fun, but unless something dramatic & miraculous occurs in the 2nd half, we will top the group and progress to the last 16. Then the proper tournament starts.
