England v USA Official Matchnight Thread 25.11.22

That was dire, goes to show why despite having our most successful period enthusiasm about the national team seems at an all time low, completely uninspiring.

Playing for a draw against a country where football is about the number 6 sport and only kids play it.

Just heard that some England fans were throwing paper aeroplanes at US fans whilst chanting 9/11. Hope that isn't true but twats need a good kicking if they were.

One of the best mangers with one of the best teams in Europe decide foden is worth a starting spot but Gareth "charisma" Southgate thinks otherwise

"what was missing"? Saka, Sterling and Mount were shiite. That's what! We played well against Iran because Sterling but moreso Saka hugged the touchline and took players on cutting in. Saka today spent more time ten/twenty yards in off the touchline where he was comfortably dealt with. Maybe done on purpose to allow Trippier to get forward but although he may be able to put a good cross in [he didn't today] he can't beat players like Saka can with pace.

Why does he play reserve club team players and leave Foden on the bench?
Southgate is ** useless, going out for a draw against a team who couldn't beat Wales

Thanks Gaz
"Silver medal"
"Controlled the game"
"Really pleased"
Looking forward to you picking up another award at SPOTY
Now I'm hearing an excuse about a ten pm kick-off, although that was from an ITV presenter. Thankfully Roy shot him down

Southgate says "We controlled the game from the back". Just WTF. Does he mean Stones and MaGuire passing to one another for prolonged periods? Utter bollocks. USA controlled large chunks of that match. More than we did anyway. Deluded.
Controlled from the back, I suppose at times we kept it and did nowt with it, struggled to get beyond half way.

No ambition the man.

The manager thinks we controlled the game from the back. No Gareth, games are controlled from midfield, where we were missing for almost the entire game. The midfield has no energy or desire to move in to space. The number of times the defender had the ball, and the pass into midfield was blocked, but the midfielder didn't even try and move to give the player in possession an option was staggering for such highly paid players.

When the team look totally devoid of ideas and completely limp as an attacking threat, not giving Foden any minutes on the pitch at all is criminal. And when Maguire is your best player, you've failed miserably.

The serious question that needs to be asked is.........
How the hell do England end up playing like they did tonight after demolishing a very good Iranian side only 4 days earlier?

Mount was noticeable for him constantly giving the ball away. But Bellingham and Rice were just unnoticeable. Struggling to recall the commentator mentioning their names at all.

That interview was a disgrace. He should not be using words like outstanding after that performance. Talk about putting it on a plate for fans to despair even more.

I said after the last game to be wary of a team that scores big in one game. The quota can run out.

Bad game. Luckily, I couldn't watch from the start so asked the Mrs to put on the recorded programmes, find the game and then click on watch from the start. This was at 8 and she said, 'yeah found it, Eng v USA, 0-0'.

I wouldn't worry about this game. They'll hammer Wales for Fails and 7 was always the realistic target. I do fear playing any team with a bit of dynamism.
