ELLIS SIMMS

Having a very impressive loan spell.
I very much doubt that when he arrived in January, very few would have been expected to play as much as he has. Loan spells from a Prem club usually mean getting some vital experience in league football and a few appearances off the bench. But Madine's injury has meant that when NC wants to play two strikers he has got the nod. The biggest compliment I can pay Simms is that he has not looked out of place. The strength and the nous he showed yesterday to win the penalty proved that.
I would still play Madine when he is fit but Simms could be an option for the long term. Remember two former Pool stars in Keith Southern & Peter Clarke who began their careers at Goodison and arrived here at first on loan. Hopefully Ancelotti will not know who Simms is and a more permanent stay is possible.

If you were him would you leave Everton to join us?
For me, it’s the only hope young players have of having a decent career is to get out there and play week in week out, even in the lower leagues. I know a tiny number do break into their own team first 11 but they are few and far between really in the Prem.

Also depends if he thinks a Championship club will move in for him?

We could be that championship club in a few months Chunky, needs the fans back once he feels the sea of Tangerine around the stadium he won’t want to go home.

He signed a professional contract with them a couple years ago and I imagine he'll be on a decent wage, that contract expires next year though so its a question of whether he wants regular football or not

If we were a Championship club I reckon we could tempt him, we'll just have to get promoted won't we!

Promotion would be a huge factor when Premier League/ Championship loan players have a decision to make.
