Electric Bike crash, unbelievable

A Cyclist on an electric bike was seriously injured at approx 01.15 this morning after being in an accident with an HGV. The 30 year old cyclist had entered the M62 at junction 30.

Totally unbelievable, If he survives they should throw the book at him. How will the HGV driver feel? What the hell was he doing on the motorway? I won't ask if he was an idiot, as this whole thing speaks for itself.

Okay... so no sympathy for the "seriously injured" cyclist or his family and friends then?
Just for the HGV driver who was obviously unhurt. Granted he will have been "shaken up".
Because, of course, cyclists aren't actually fellow human beings are they?

He made a big mistake and has certainly paid the price. Because you never make any mistakes or have any accidents, eh Curryman?
Like you say... unbelievable 🙄

Junction 30 of the M62 is an odd one to join a motorway. He must have done it deliberately because there is no other way he could have gone.

Says someone who rides an ebike😉

One of em was pulling away from me on squires gate lane the other day and I was doing 30 ,wearing black no lights about 8am ,then he wizzes across the lanes to turn right at Halfway house .Are they mad ?

You should try it round here in Merseyside. There's whole squadrons of the little scroats. What with them and the Deliveroo brigade in town it's like Mad Max! 🙄

Cyclists aren't allowed on motorways, I'm guessing ebikes aren't either, or are they in the same classification as motorbikes as they can go 30mph (min speed on a motorway)

For your information, I broke three ribs in September through falling off a chair backwards and landing on a metal footboard on a bed. It was my fault and I shouldn't have been standing on the chair. Even though I didn't deserve it i received sympathy from some and was laughed at by others, and that was all I deserved.

The guy on the bike was a complete fool, one for Riding on a motorway and two in the dark. So why should I give him any sympathy, but I won't laugh at him either. His family deserve loads of sympathy for having such a dick head as a son. brother, father, husband or whatever.

And that cyclist has put people’s lives in danger.

He or she or it entered a Motorway junction on an electric bike and you seem to defend them….a sad outcome but what the hell did they expect.

Also spare a thought for the person whose drug delivery might not have turned up.

Amazed to hear this Curryman, thought you of all people would of done a full risk assessment before attempting the task! Hope you are on the mend

There was some local footage from a dash cam of a guy on an e scooter driving up the inside of a line of cars that were stopped at lights. As the scooter reached the lights (which had just changed) the rider decided to turn right in front of the first vehicle which was a HGV.
The driver obviously couldn’t see the scooter and ran straight over him. It was horrible but I am in total agreement with Wilf and have no sympathy whatsoever with these people.
How many pedestrians have been killed on footpaths? The riders are totally irresponsible.

Shootz, I used to teach Health & Safety and always warned people not to stand on anything other than steps, ladders and other things built for standing on. So as I said, it was totally all my fault. Do as I say, not as I do. 🥸

I have just about made a full recovery thank you, but have now twisted my ankle, so I'll be glad when this year is over.🥲

Well. not the outcome they got... "seriously injured". If they deliberately entered the motorway, then they were "stupid" ... but NO danger to others (only themselves) and it appears they paid the price for their stupidity.

How many? The average is "less than one a year" across England, I believe.
Look, the guy might be a complete imbecile but... "no sympathy"...
That sounds rather callous.

Exactly. You had an accident because of your own stupidity. So did I this year, as it happens (not on an ebike - I don't own one😁).
What I can't understand is why you are so angry and unsympathetic towards a fellow human being who has also made a mistake - albeit a very stupid one. He doesn't deserve to be "crucified". I think the "serious injuries" will be enough.

So we have an op from someone who, on his own admission, did something stupid on a stool and hurt himself.

But he feels the need to condemn someone else who did something stupid on an e-bike and hurt himself.

Cue the “Ah but” brigade who will bang on about electric bikes and how the person mentioned in the op on an electric bike somehow, might have, possibly, endangered the life of a chap in a HGV. And if it didn’t endanger his life it would’ve upset anyone who saw it.

Whereas the op in the kitchen, on a stool, with years of training still did something stupid. And could’ve killed someone if he’d landed on them. Or if that’s going too far, could’ve seriously traumatised someone who saw them fall off said stool.

Why is everyone so judgmental? And what’s that thing about people without sin and casting stones?

Is it compulsory when riding an e scooter or bike to be dressed head to toe in black including a scarf across the face, especially at night when driving without lights?

He wasn't in the kitchen, he was in a bedroom😀

No wonder this country is buggered with comments like that! Feck off! Just feck off! Go boil your own piss instead of mine and others! Merry feckin Xmas scroat!

There actually is no minimum speed on a motorway. It’s up to the police to decide if a speed is low enough to constitute a danger to other motorists.
