Advises us all not to " get too emotional" about bills and the ongoing price rises. Gives advice such as placing foil material behind radiators. FFS- if this crisis is as bad as it sounds millions will suffer and there will be deaths amongst the most vulnerable in society. What wicked comments .

Placing foil behind radiators was debunked years ago, it's not how convection works, the clueless knob.

Get a grip at least she has a personality unlike you you miserable so and so😃

She has a personality all right, had an affair with Major, didn’t get a job when he became Prime Minister so dropped the affair into her book to sell more of it and gain her revenge.

A truly lovely lady.

The woman who single handedly wrecked the UK Poultry Industry by not understanding science.

Who had an affair with John Major whilst they were both espousing family values

This advice from her entirely misses the point. We are not saving a few percent here and there with inefficiency, energy prices have increased, from October, threefold. The scale of the problem requires Government Intervention in the Market, not silly patronising nonsense

Great post O/P

The advice to date is to wait and see and not forecast what might happen.

If you say otherwise it's the new Project Fear.

I think the radiators have to be heated for that to work. Most people won’t be able to turn them on. Still being talked down to by the likes of Edwina Currie is enough to boil the blood.

A modern radiator is approximately 80% convection (heats the air)
20% radiation (heats an object)

Putting tin foil behind a radiator has minimal effect and virtually none if the wall is insulated or internal
which is recommended for a radiator if possible.

So to summarise what Edwina Curry says is total bollocks

As already stated, the reason why the government of a party ideologically opposed to government interference in the market is going to have to get involved is because of the sheer scale of the problem. Lives are at risk this winter. She has absolutely no idea about the fact that most average families in this country simply don't have an extra £300-400+ per month to spare. Utterly stupid and totally out of touch. I can see why she fit in well in the Tory party.

They also give off radiant heat, hence the name.
I once made a sun hat out of tinfoil…

I was stuck on a beach in North Wales on an extremely hot day. All I had to hand to protect my bald head was the Tinfoil I had wrapped my sandwiches in..

Anyway the upshot was that the instead of reflecting the heat away from my head, my hat actually baked my head like a ** potato.

So I’m not convinced about the reflective powers of tinfoil tbh.

That statesmanlike John Major who the Europhiles yearn for?

Meanwhile, there's something about politicians 20 years or of the industry putting trying to remain relevant that's just awful.

Never liked Edwina Currie, didn't like Michael Portillo either, but at least he had the grace to move on to his passion of railways etc.

Former politicians have no mandate and are no more relevant than you and I as individual voters, so should just keep out of the way and allow the current crop (who are accountable to us) to get on with governing the country.

Well it'll actually do both, reflect and transmit heat. You can buy foil backed insulation for this very reason, they don't manufacture it and sell it just for a giggle you know.

I’m not convinced…. Might stop your paint from flaking, but that’s about it.
