East stand development.

Why bother?
We'll never fill it.
Because having that temporary stand or nothing when it’s safety certificate expires is a horrible left over from a time we weren’t run properly as a football club.

We’ve made tonnes of errors this year but they’ve all be made for the right reasons. Trying to push the club on. They’ve just failed. It happens.

No one wants to sit in that stand, it’s a part of the reason we can’t operate for sustained period in the Championship or above. It’s a huge turd at the side of the stadium, it’s time we washed it away and continued to improve as a club.

If we have a new stand that brings the capacity to 17/18 k that can be fully used depending on its configuration, ticket prices will likely come down in an attempt to fill it regularly, the atmosphere may also improve and we organically grow the fan base over the next ten years which means we have a better chance to get 15+k home fans every game. It’s the only way we’ll be able to avoid seasons like this one in the future.

Easy to say now and hindsight is a wonderful thing but consolidation in the championship and squad improvement should have been the priority over anything else…relegation that could have been avoided makes zero economic sense and the shockwaves from this relegation will really hit home hard. Some of our fans think we are coming back up as champions and I think they are in for a very rude awakening. If we couldn’t reinvest 5 million in this years squad then what makes people think there is going to be huge investment in infrastructure and team strengthening next season. I just hope and pray that we can somehow miraculously escape.

Tbh we are a middleing league 1 team at best. If our fans underestimate league 1 thinking we can turn up with any old shite they have short memory’s.

We need a new East regardless of how much it holds, as others have said the license for our temporary (12 years and counting) East is coming to it's end.

Better facilities for away fans and it'll mean we can give bigger followings when we play bigger clubs and derbies without the excuse of safety concerns. It really is tinpot having that shite temporary East.

Like banking the Critchley and Bowler cash, with a squad too weak to stay up.

Unless Sadler funds second tier quality, or accepts a co-owner, he must sell up.

Nah I think they’ve spent that money honestly, on shite loan fees and parts of wages. As well as fees for Lyons and Thompson.

It’s been a complete failure.
So without the Critchley and Bowler money we wouldn't be able to sign anyone for a fee or would have lower league loans?

Yeh that’s an argument.

Perhaps our net spend it’s pretty much at zero, they gambled some ‘quality’ loans at a reduced rate compared to going out and signing players would be enough. Clearly it wouldn’t.

I’m not going to argue that this season recruitment has been a dog. I was merely saying I think we spent the money we received in the summer. We spent it very poorly and more over yeh I think you’re right there’s been no on top investment.

Based on current squad and form, we will fall straight through league 1.

Stand HAS to be built regardless of division.

Wouldn’t pay too much attention to the 4600 figure though.

The plans and justification for CPO is based purely on land assembly. Land assembly FOR the council who will then long term lease / sell land to the club who can do with it whatever they like.

The 4600 figure comes from the fact the council can’t justify getting money from the government to support a private enterprise in growing their business (which is what saying it’s allowing the club to increase capacity / commercial opportunities would be doing). The 4600 is essentially the council saying like for like but permanent and therefore less of an eyesore and an improvement for the local community.

Once land is secured and CPO’s in place an agreement with the club for purchase/lease will be made and it’s only then that I imagine the club will release actual plans - which could differ massively or not at all. Either way 4600 means nothing at this point.

Only a few months away from season ticket renewal time so I was expecting a story like this to pop up soon. Next month we will have an update on the training ground, about how close we are to getting work started etc etc, then as soon as season tickets are on sale and we have sold a decent amount we won’t hear a thing until next year. Being strung along and lied to once again just like the Oyston’s.

I think we have to get rid of the temporary stand soon, so we need an east stand to hold the away supporters. Simon has decided to do the job properly which we all need to appreciate!
Yeh, Simon has decided to do the job properly as the club would be harder to sell with a shithole of an East stand and no training ground.
Let's look at the bigger picture.
No money spent on players yet funding for ground improvements and training ground 🤔

That has to be one of the worst statements I've ever read 🤬

I’m not sure how long you’ve supported BFC but this is the fourth ownership (in its many guises ie boardroom control) I’ve lived through which I can vividly remember. The first three didn’t want the best for the club, they either had petty personal issues with it, were extremely incompetent or actively wanted to destroy it.

Sadler’s ownership and the people he’s brought in all want the club to succeed. That’s a great starting point. It doesn’t mean they get everything right however. They’ve got pretty much everything wrong this year.

So, do you think Sadler and Mansford want the club to fail? And take proactive measures to achieve that?

Oh do fuck off

I really hope the 4600 is just a placeholder, as the current east is about that and if we are building a NE corner too surely, than that alone adds 1k.

So either it's not included in figure or the east would be smaller than the current one if the NE amount is included. Or they aren't building a NE. Given there's a building there on the plans.

Either way would be a bit unambitious and tbf thr TG plans were very ambitious, so I expect that here too.

The minimum we need it an east of similar size AND a NE corner too.

Preferably we need a slightly bigger east and a NE corner at North stand height.

This is according to the gazette "the masterplan for the site"

Afaik the club hasn't released anything but does this suggest no NE corner, hence no mention of it ever? Also shows that building where the NE corner would be and even the east itself in the picture extends back further than the current, suggesting its not just a pic of the old east but a newer one?

Not sure where this pic comes from or whether it's just plans as they stand based on little knowledge.

It wouldn't make sense without the NE corner. The entry/exit arrangements for the North and East need rethinking and the corner would help to sort it.

I don't think they'll be a NE corner on the new development.

If there's a gap between the North & the East it creates a natural break in the ground for segregation. My guess would be the away fans would be located at the north end of the East stand.

The whole of back henry street will be gone it'll be a totally changed area.

Most clubs in the country (world?) can cope with a fully enclosed ground.

They can but building a curved corner is far more costly, pro rata to the number of seats provided.

It might be that initially they just build a straight run the full length of the East with the option to fill in that corner at a later date?

I hoping they do but its specifically never been mentioned. Only ever an easy.

It will be a huge disappointment if its not, as if we are only adding an east and a 4600 one our capacity doesn't really increase at all. Only the useable slightly.

We'd be stuck then at a similar capacity to now, limiting us forever.

The north stand is the biggest draw for new fans we have, it sells first for every game, almost everyone wants to be near it, especially youngsters.

Makes sense then to build a NE corner and East and put away fans in part of the SE and corner and x. Adding home fans to the north section where popularity is highest and increasing the atmosphere too.

We'll never get near 20k capacity if we don't build the aprox 1k corner.

Given how daft we've been about segregation it wouldn't surprise me if we did something silly here too and the plans show a building there so not looking good.

The other issue then is we then have away fans up to the middle of the stand which means people in the west pay silly money for their seats but the ones opposite can't be used for premium seating.

Block x in the South is always empty anyway so away fans in the SE corner and part of the SE, leaves the middle of the new East for premium seating again.

This is best for home advantage having away fans as much in a corner as possible.

SS has been ambitious with the TG and I'd hope the same here too. Being a fan surely he knows what's required...
