Donovan Lescott

Didn't Insy mention him as a trialist in one of devolpment squad games?
It is indeed news that Insider brought to you on 23 July. Good to see BFC catching up eventually.
He played primarily on the LW against Hyde. Too early to say anything else about him although I will have seen him play for Salford u18s against our u18s and whilst I don't remember him specifically it was always a tough game against them.
We do have a Development Squad that Stephen Dobbie is managing and I assume they will form the basis of the Central League team. They are supposed to be playing at Bamber Bridge but things can change.

Yeah, the club are entering a reserve league for this season.
Good to hear. If they're playing a match nearly every week maybe alongside some of the first team reserves/injury recoveries and developing. And there's better opportunities to go out on loan above pub league level. Then it could increase the chances of filling the gaps in the logic between tiny youth team kids and what you need to be to be able to compete in the EFL. Save money using internal solutions. Drafting someone elses is in is a good idea to try and kickstart it.

It is good to hear. I just hope that their fixtures are properly reported on. Hopefully they will be as Youth team fixtures seem to be covered.

What struck me about the club's statement was this - my emphasis:

"He is an exciting player who can score goals and drive with the ball at pace. He will join up with Stephen Dobbie as part of our development group and we believe we can really help him progress towards our first-team over the next 12-18 months."

So this development team is now clearly seen as a route to first team football. I get the impression that in previous years it was a matter of recruiting a bunch of kids and hoping one of them came good. That may be a bit harsh, but it's the way it seemed.
